1. Philip Glass - Music in 12 parts. Only legit Glass performance I’ve ever seen was Hydrogen Jukebox at Spoleto Festival in Charleston SC when it premiered (I was in high school).
I didn't see (or really discover) him too much earlier than that. Saw him perform on his "Solo Piano" tour (Sep 1989). I was instantly hooked... Met him a few years later at a party; still have no idea how or why I was invited. I received a completely anonymous invitation in the mail, saw that it was in honor of his performance the next day, and decided to check it out

Just dropped tier 2 for Premier and Sonic Explorer. Dunno if it’s close to selling out or they had a change of heart but either way it’s gone right now.

That's odd... If it was close to selling out, I'd expect they'd keep Tier 2 displayed. This makes me think it might not be selling as quickly as they expected. It was a pretty hefty hike in $$$.

That’s my guess, honestly. Add those fees and shipping in and I paid $800+ for my ticket. $600 hurt but understandable with production costs rising. $150 increase means I should be given a kiss after getting fucked.

I had brought up to GL elsewhere that I wondered if the price hike for the fancy tickets was an end around to lower the amount they sold making it easier to guarantee seating and such for those that did buy it.

I kid. I’m hoping you’re right but that wouldn’t explain the hike to Premier. For $800, there needs to be more offered than just Priority Entrance. It’s just a crazy amount of $$$ for that. Offer them a swag bag, drink tickets, something!
I’m all for paying your fair share. I don’t mind subsidizing GA if that needs to happen. I’m just afraid this is a test to see how much people are willing to pay. I’m also hoping they don’t come after GA prices next year.
I’ll say this till I’m blue in the face. Sonic Explorers need to be given tickets to the separately ticketed events of their choice.

That’s the kind of decision that would have been promoted heavily. Not only would it justify the price increase for a lot of people, it’d also increase the perceived scarcity (and thus value) of those packages.
So, while I’d love that to be the case, the fact that they didn’t lead with that disclosure makes me think it’s just your typical inflation…
How are you pricing that? I was considering doing that as well, but it's kind of a wash for me. It's early (so prices may be high), but right now it's about $800 to fly to TYS and $500 to fly to BNA. Rental car would be around $400 for the week for a compact...
Google Flights. RT on United between DEN and TYS direct would come out to $507. DEN to BNA on Southwest (my go-to domestic carrier) ran me $270 RT. My folks are SWA A-list so the flight is essentially free for them with points. In the past I've been able to get a rental car for no more than $300 (oftentimes less) from Wednesday to Monday. I'll wait until next year to book it though since prices are going to be high this far out.
OK so if you can stay from Thursday to Thursday, you can get Allegiant round trip for about 205 before fees. The only thing is that they only offer Thursday and Sunday flights to and fro DEN-TYS so you'd have to stay for the week or leave Sunday AM, which I'm sure you don't want to do. Just wanted to make sure you knew about this option, though. You could maybe fly in on Allegiant for 95 then figure out another one way back home and that still might be much cheaper than 507.

Hey so Philip Glass Ensemble does not include Philip Glass does it?

Short Answer is No.
THE PHILIP GLASS ENSEMBLE Michael Riesman, music director, keyboard Lisa Bielawa, voice, keyboard Dan Bora, sound Peter Hess, alto and tenor saxophone Ryan Kelly, onstage sound Mick Rossi, keyboard Sam Sadigursky, soprano saxophone, flute Andrew Sterman, flute, piccolo, soprano saxophone
Longer answer is more convoluted but the basic gist is he started PGE to preform his compositions. The ensemble has been around since the 60’s when he started to cherry pick the best players to preform his technical works.
I’ve seen them a few times before (RVA used to do a GLASSFEST that they were at) and while he was there, he didn’t preform with them.

Caught Mars Volta here in Indy last night. Feel like it'd go over pretty well as a Mill & Mine closer, not too far off-base from stuff like Horse Lords or SGM last year

I'll be surprised if there is much more added to the line-up. This was the biggest drop they've ever started with... and is very close to the final number of artists they've had in recent years...

Totally agree with you but the “More To Come” gives me hope. They teased Nala who was nowhere to be found on the lineup. I’m in the camp there may be some more collaborations and a few new artists that weren’t ready to announce yet. Plus the separate ticket events.
I’ve been on an Antipop Consortium kick for a week now. sang_xcx, surprised you haven’t been all over this.

We have gained a big-venue headliner each of the last three years (Patti Smith, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Batiste/Andre). I don't see four obvious KCA headliners, unless Waxahatchee is there (which she may be!), so I'm kind of guessing we get one more name.

I’ve heard the name but never listened to it.
They broke up years ago but as it stands this is their first show back. Phenomenal group and absolutely amazing albums. They’re on my shortlist for sure.

I think she will be. In my head both her and Cassandra Jenkins will play the KCA (obviously not as a HL for Cassandra). The Tennessee is possible but I still feel like it’s the KCA.
I just ordered new running shoes for getting my ass back downtown after Anohni destroys that place, too.

154 artists on the final bill last year and 131 from the initial here... agree it's more than typical at the outset but I'd be surprised if there were no adds

You need to get on it. Like garageland, I feel they're right up your alley.
