I'm going by the criteria of how loud I would crank the volume in a rental car if I was traveling for work and only had access to a Sirius channel that played Zeppelin songs. So the warhorses (Stairway, Black Dog, R&R, etc) that get played all the time are going to get penalized.

Yo. I'm watching NBA and a commercial came on so I checked the music lounge for a second and saw this was up. I thought of Presence - specifically ALS and Nobody's Fault and was like how is Immigrant Song in the list when it's not even Top 5 songs on III which is one of their greatest works and a departure album.
So how the fuck do i do this because it could change every day.

I resent not being able to place Celebration Day, Friends, Gallow's Pole and Tangerine off III as those are all worthy and might make it on a different day when I wasn't trying to vary the shit I liked best. Going to California and Battle of Evermore and Four Sticks off IV. And there's the first album which I love it all the way through. And then the whole first 4 songs of HotH. I got in Song Remains the Same but then Over the Hills, Rain Song and The Crunge plus No 1/4. Fucking shit.

they're great but it's probably all conversations we've had a million times over and they're in a weird spot for me because I like stuff like Floyd and Beatles a significant amount more, and the post Zep metal offshoot is a genre I just like more

Fuck omitting That’s the Way though. I mean come on. What more could a white, British rock band do in1970 but speak up and correct some motherfuckers who needed it. And Bron-Yr-Ar though short as shit, is mastery of the occult situation Jimmy Page was in there at the time.

I have nothing against R&R and its objectively a good song, its just played to death on classic rock radio and not something that I felt needed to be specifically celebrated.
There's also really no bad answers because they kind of didn't make many/any bad songs. If someone wanted to throw Hats Off To Roy Harper on their list I'd go eh, shrug, and not even argue.
If Bonham lived and they continued into the 80s I feel certain that they would have made some clunkers, but that's how she goes.

It's probably my least favorite Zeppelin song and one, along with Stairway to Heaven, that I'm most likely to turn off or skip if it comes on the radio or a playlist. It's an interruption when I'm listening to Houses of the Holy too because the rest of the album is so great. Zebra's version of The Ocean is probably technically better guitar work (Randy Jackson) than Jimmy Page.
