I'll join the carrot crew. I like them and I always have them in my fridge, but mostly because I make a lot of soup. I don't use them in too much else. Sometimes I'll include them in a Thai stir-fry or slaw, but if they were omitted, they wouldn't really be missed. I am not a fan of most carrot only-type dishes. Too sweet when cooked and they are always topped with more sweet.
They are fine raw, but not the first I go to on a veggie platter (RIP celery, go broccoli).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Critical for soups and stews and all French coming, roasts, etc. particularly chicken soup. I also like parsnips but I never tried them raw. Carrots are good for our eyes. I knew this chick in the early 80’s who ate cans and cans of carrots and was orange. This is way before tanning beds, bronzer and bleached black hair became popularized by idiots emulating Jersey Shore and Growing Up Gotti guidos. She said her doctor told her it was the result of excess beta carotene. I never heard of it but I could see it with my own eyes. Carrots are particularly good in Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Indian cuisine.

And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust."
The fucked up thing is potato being a starch as opposed to fiber. I eat almost ALL these veggies with a side of potato. I ranked it high only for that reason, but I personally think it shouldn't even be in this survivor. But, I'm not the survivor guru, so I just go with the flow. Cabbage would have #10 if potatoes weren't in the race. 🤷♀️
Edit: I forgot mushrooms, this is wrong. 🫤 They would be #5.

I agree that potatoes although technically classified as a veggie are just an awkward fit here. I love them but I don't think they should make the top 5.
Also, as much as I love onions, I just don't think of them as a "veggie." Do I eat onion rings? Yes. Do I love them sauteed on my impossible burger? Of course. Do I cook with it in. Every. Single. Meal? Most definitely. But it's not something I eat like as a side (besides onion rings). I don't like them raw, they feel more like a seasoning. Like I use them to enhance other foods. I know people like them raw, I'm not one of them. So that puts them very low on my list.

I’m currently on cucumbers. I like cucumbers. They work well on salads and sandwiches. They also smell really good to me. But I like all the other things on this list more.
Having said that, I like broccoli more than carrots and probably more than corn, so if it looked like one of those had a chance of being eliminated instead of broccoli, I’d switch.

This is a good thought. Onions have god tier versatility but I'll continue saying that a vegetable that and is specifically called out an ordered at a restaurant to be eaten as its own dish (albeit seasoned) is more impressive / better than something that is just kinda meh on it's own. This is why I'd also have asparagus and brussels in my top3-7. Idk where shrooms are on your list.
Onion rings sure, but its battered into oblivion to where you might forget the onion is even there.
That said, I'll take the versatility of the onion over other things like spinach, cucumber, carrots and bell peppers.

I eat Bell peppers raw, I can't with an onion so peppers win. I fucked up my list bc I forgot mushrooms, they're top 5. But onions are definitely higher tier than cucumbers and carrots.
I just think, when I'm asked what veggie I want, it's ALWAYS asparagus, squash, or brussel sprouts, which puts them in top tier for me. Honestly, if I could eat Doris Metropolitan's beet side dish, that would be my number one. Beets are highly underrated. So much so, they didn't even make the list. 🤷♀️
