The Emmys are in a pickle! Just because a show is a half hour doesn't mean it's a comedy, and just because a show says its a limited series doesn't mean they won't end up adding a second season. Category fraud is rife! The Emmys decided to combine Best Drama, Best Comedy, and Best Limited Series into one category: Best Show. But they can only select eight shows, and they need inforoo's help! For your consideration are all the shows nominated for Best Drama, Best Comedy, and Best Limited Series for the 2024 Emmys, which covered the period June 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024.

Shogun is being criminally underrated here, and having finished season 3 of The Bear last night, it is being criminally overrated. My wife and I wanted to start a drinking game every time they showed the same damn flashback montage of Carmy's life but we figured we'd rather not die of alcohol poisoning.

Shogun is being criminally underrated here, and having finished season 3 of The Bear last night, it is being criminally overrated. absolutely insane that, as voter #11, i'm the first person to vote for Ripley or Baby Reindeer
i didn't watch Baby Reindeer, but it was likely the most watched thing of the year, which means it should probably be on the list.
only made it a couple episodes into Ripley. absolutely respected the obvious care that went into it, but i just couldn't get engaged with it. i might pick it back up later.
The Crown - just a big fan of this show, it's so well done. excellent bow out.
Fallout - having never played the games, I feel like the show did some excellent world building and really found a nice lane of being unique in the current tv landscape.
Mr & Mrs Smith - delightful spy action comedy, both leads were great, and the side characters were all dynamite.
3 body problem - similar to fallout, never read the books but felt like they did a good job w the world building. the scene with the freighter was incredible.
the bear (s2?) - no explanation needed really you all know it was good and agonizing and stressful and funny.
only murders in the building - Steve and Steve good always, Paul Rudd was a lot of fun, streep was good.
what we do in the shadows - I would take a bullet for Colin Robinson
Fargo - best of the rest of the shows I saw from the group, hamm was a good villain.
still need/want to see hacks and Shogun, the rest are sort of all barely on or off my radar.
i could get into it at length but the short version is that the show has no idea how to handle Janine, Gregory, or Janine & Gregory, and it's flattening them and the supporting characters as it tries to figure those things out (except Mr. Johnson, who is unfuckwithable)

Abbott made the mistake of separating Janine from everyone else for so long. It felt like watching two different shows at once. By the time she was finally brought back into the fold later in the season, it felt like it was only to force more Janine/Gregory stuff.
I felt like several of these shows had their weakest seasons this past year, including WWDITS, which has had a wonderful run but I'm glad is ending next season.

they didn't keep her separate enough. they tried to do something creative and interesting by having her leave the school without actually having her leave the school. it was half-baked to the extreme. if you're gonna make the decision, make it with your chest
