glad to see Maine at #5. it really is an absolutely beautiful state w incredible food and beer, one of the best national parks, many of the same political benefits of MA, one of the best concert venues in the northeast
lack of diversity and housing crisis bring it down a few pegs but i wouldnt put it lower than 10

my time to shine baby
pros of maine: - seafood - the ocean - beer scene - live music in portland (MovieBob assume you're referring to thompson's point?) - have you ever been on the maine coast on a summer day in the mid 70s? oh my god - LL bean - legitimately great skiing that may not be west coast but has a good of glade terrain as anywhere in the country also take someone who grew up skiing on the west coast, they couldn't hack it over there on our narrow windy icy trails - portland is just a great city generally speaking - they actually implemented ranked choice voting - just beautiful scenery almost everywhere you go - seafood - no major league teams but affordable fun pro sports - billboards are illegal, that's nice - cool giant bridge you have to drive over to get into
lack of diversity, i agree, is definitely a con. reasonably sure my high school was 99% white. it's a schlep from basically anywhere else, but then again, that's kind of a pro. i voted 2 with an extreme amount of bias
a very serious offer is that if anyone here ever plans a maine trip, PM me and i would love to help out especially for portland area stuff. i have a long list that i have sent roughly 40-50 people over the years since a buddy asked me for some recommendations. i love to spread the gospel. let me know.

love it! I don't think there's a state I know or have heard less about than Maine, remember having a good time there as a middle schooler. Good seafood and tons of nature is a massive plus

Yeah but the last governor said, “These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty … these types of guys … they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home,” LePage said, according to the Portland Press Herald. “Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young, white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road.” He got 2 terms. I do like Senator King though.
It is. People move to Florida. Florida adds the equivalent of Maine’s population every 4 years. I voted Maine higher than I did Florida however and have never been there.

yeah 0% argument on lepage being pure trash. couldn’t stand that guy. we’ve had some less than stellar politicians over the years
