So in years past we've brought a buch of beer in bottles, never had a problem. Still, I'd like to avoid glass this year if I can. But does anyone know of any good beers that come in cans or something else non-glass?

There was another thread about this same thing awhile back... I suggested Becks, its hard to find in cans though.... I guess heineken keg cans would be the only other one off the top of my head that i would dig....
They sell Warsteiner in cans now, if you like the German beer thing.
It's been my beer of choice (in bottles up until now) for the previous 'Roos. A lighter and less hoppy beer that works well with the hot weather (compared to my favorite, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale).

Labatt Blue, Killians Red, Honey Brown, and Heineken are four beers that generally come in bottles but can be had in cans. I usually bring a case of each to the roo.

OUt of curiousity do they sell cases of beer on site? I heard that the general store so to speak does sell beer... reason im asking is im flying in and will be on the shuttle so probably wont have much of a chance to grab before hand... may have to bring some bottles of liquor in my pack i guess...

Seeing as how glass bottles of beer are prohibited I would imagine glass bottle of liquor would be too, correct me if I am wrong. I will probably sneak a bottle of Vodka or three in anyways just because of the economical factor in comparison to beer, especially beer bought at 'Roo.

I hear ya there Beefullo... at least i know ill still be able to grab a number 9 or two in the Brooer's tent when necessary... hopefully enough kids on Shakedown will be swingin Magic Hat or Sierra Nevada's
On another thread it was strongly suggested that any liquor be "repackaged" in plastic bottles. There was a strong about watching it all get confiscated because it was in glass. Hard to hide a few handles in the bottom of your cooler.....

They sell most (lower-end) liquor in both glass & plastic bottles here (I'm in SC), so for most liquors, that is not an issue. My car has never been searched enough for this to make much of a difference. It is always packed FULL of crap, and I just make sure the glass is out of sight & normally not in a cooler when we go in, so it's never been a problem. I'm VERY responsible about what I do w/ my glass anyway, as far as proper disposal goes.
BUT it is most definitely prohibited, and if found, will most definitely be swiped from you on the way into the fest.
Most liquor stores have plastic flasks in sizes up to a fifth. They're flat and pack well in a backpack (or your pocket). I've always put my bourbon or vodka in them for camping (or 'Roo for that matter). One less thing to worry about breaking in your pack, although I usually put it inside a heavy-duty Zip-lock bag for an extra layer of leak protection.
Miller High Life? Okay, so it's not so great, but it's cheap! $15 for a 30 pack! We're bringing about 7 cases of that with us. You really can't beat the price. Okay, you can, but it tastes better than natty ice. Heh.

If we're talking straight cheapness, I really prefer Steel Reserve "High Gravity Lager." AKA "211." it's 6%, and I think it's a malt liquor, but for $0.99 tallboys it doesn't get any more refreshing.
Hey, this thread started with "good beer in cans". I guess we need to talk about what makes a "good" beer. One that gets you drunk, one that is cheap or one that has "character".
Knowing that roo takes place in a field (for the most part) means that you have to weigh being drunk off your ass with no shade on cheap beer vs actually having a happy buzz and enjoying the music. My vote has always been for tasty "quality" beers (beer tent) in moderation til the sun sets.
I'll have a supply of cheaper beer in 12oz cans but I'm also brining in some mini kegs in cans (1 US gallon).
I don't know how widely it is available (it's from CO) but Dale's Pale Ale is a v good brew and comes in cans. The only time I had it was in the brooers tent last year and it was my favorite there, which is saying something b/c I'm a huge fan of ol' #9. Don't know if they ship it much out of CO, I can't get it in Knoxville, but I'm in beer hell here.

There is a microbrew company out of Lyons, Colorado that sells their beer in cans. The brewery name is Oskar Blues they sell their beer in many other states too. Check it out! www.oskarblues.com
Heh... I saw this thread resurrected and decided to read through it... I was all the way to the last post thinking, "How the hell has Boddington's not been mentioned" and about to post it
I'll be packing some Boddington's and some lighter heat friendly beer for daytime drinking or when I'm so drunk I don't care anymore

$18?? I can get a case for $15-$16 in Total Wine in Charleston homes - that's only like 2 hours from you. You need to shop somewhere else!
true true... but i live right in Myrtle Beach so everything is a bit more expensive, i didnt think about that at the time but you're right i could probably stop out in conway or florence and save a few bucks like i was planning to do on gas
