Real initial guess:
Metallica Olivia Rodrigo Zach Bryan The Killers Fred Again… Tyler Childers
Betting on Metallica this time, they should have gotten 2 shows for Houston so I’m placing a bet that there’s only one show to push more people to buy for ACL. Olivia will probably do the LN circuit I think. Big country act I’m betting is either ZB or Luke Combs. Killers because we’re due. Fred is apparently going Coachella so I’m just throwing him in as our EDM guy since idk anyone else active next year. Childers because it’d be cool.
The Cure - Billie Eilish - Tyler Childers Linkin Park - Justice - Charli XCX
The Cure did say they won't tour until the fall, so not impossible, but do feel like they'll do 2026 big per the Robert Smith quote. I do know ACL loves themselves The Cure (getting them as an almost US exclusive in '19 was one helluva get in hindsight) so I'll keep the optimism with you. Tyler is a shoe-in IMO. I worry Charlie is gonna be too pricy and/or some Coachella exclusive BS. And I think ACL is neither cool enough to book Justice nor dumb enough to book this iteration of Linkin Park.

I've given up on Metallica tbh. And I feel Fred is about to get hella pricy in 2025, especially if he's headlining Coachella. Bold prediction: ACL will have no EDM headliner next year.
If Coldplay was gonna hit the circuit they wouldnt have done that leg they just did. You easily make it so you have Roo and Lolla right there for the taking. Has Acl ever made a b stage for an artist anyway? Cause theyll want one.

Coldplay - Luke Combs - Sabrina Carpenter Megan Thee Stallion - Rufus Du Sol - Billy Strings
Meg does feel inevitable at some point, hmmm...
Fair points! I do hope if we get no EDM that ACL finally gives in and gets a Spanish based headliner. My vote goes to bumping up Rosalía in that case (unlikely but I can dream)

Tyler Childers would fit ACL incredibly well and they already booked him last year for Two Step Inn, but I really only question if he would do a third straight year of touring. But I just saw he's already booked for a country fest next summer in Florida so I guess so. He makes a ton of sense for this fest and isn't as expensive as like Luke Combs. Anyone have some insight on what the Stapleton crowd size was? Sturgill had a really small crowd. This fest has felt like they would move a country direction and they are inching that way but I'm not sure how far they will go.
I thought that Coldplay didn't have a Houston or Dallas date on this tour was what put them in contention (El Paso is basically a New Mexico date), plus their London run conveniently ends early September. I don't think it's crazy for ACL to book someone that didn't play the other festivals, just did it with Dua Lipa. Just the place in time it falls in the year makes it somewhat easy to do without doing the rest of the circuit. I could replace them pretty easily on my prediction though
There's also a couple bands that I think are liable to announce new albums and tours next year that could play into contention. Tame Impala and The Arctic Monkeys are two that come to mind. I also wonder if like The Black Keys might try to make up for lost money with that tour by doing some fest dates, but would they still headline? Not sure.

I originally had Zach Bryan pegged as playing all the majors except maybe Coachella next year before he said he wasn't really planning to play shows next year, but now he just announced a Hyde Park show next summer which makes me think the "not playing shows" thing isn't true. He makes all the sense for this fest

Maybe still my personal bias but I think Tyler Childers is more likely than Zach Bryan.Or hey maybe they'll just book both.
Also, he won't be closing a stage but I totally see Jason Isbell getting a high billing in 2025.

I think ACL likes to book as headliners 1 countryish, 1 rockish and 1 popish act/band. Sometimes they don't get that combo, but that appears to be what they strive for.
Edit: Sometimes more so even for 1 day, among the top 3 for that particular day.

Sam Fender announced a new album along with a spring US tour that looks to align with a Coachella appearance. I could see him coming back stateside around August for some additional festival dates including ACL.
Me thinks Post is out given his tour...hitting just about every corner of the country + Texas dates theoretically after the lineup drops + only confirmer for AEG fests + tour ending three months before the fest + ACL's apparent allergy to booking him
But dont worry yall I'm already mocking him for 2026!!

IDK maybe now that he's gone country ACL might try a little harder hahaha
In all seriousness: I need him to get back to purely just a greatest hits set when he inevitably gets booked because I am NOT a fan of this country stuff he's doing.
Charli's possible I guess? Show at Moody Center is before the lineup drops but I don't know how likely it is for her to play there in April then come back and do the fest in October. Time will tell I guess.
