Hey yinz, it's Secret Santa time again! I have sort of appointed myself as the Secret Santa every year from now until forever, but if you'd like to do it, please feel free to contact me; I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Send an email to joshuajgrubbs(at)gmail.com with the following information:
FULL NAME: ADDRESS: SCREENNAME:
Please answer the following questions in the email as well:
A. Are you willing to ship outside the US? B. Is there anyone you do NOT want to be assigned to? C. Do you plan on sending anonymously?
I will randomly assign a Secret Santa to everyone using a number generator. If there are special requests, I may make tweaks as necessary. If you wish to remain anonymous when sending, please let me know so you don't end up with my name.
2. Answer the questions below in a reply to this thread. Your Secret Santa once assigned will review those answers to determine what to give you. If you would rather not list your answers here in the thread, please do so in your email. We can make that work. And if you know of members on here who might not see this thread, tell them about it. The more the merrier!
3. Secret Santas will be given out on (or around) Sunday, November 24th. Once you've been assigned a person, check this thread, but PLEASE, DO NOT reveal who you have. OK? Deal. If you need me to fish for some ideas for your person, just let me know.
4. Please, let's try to ship all gifts by Friday, December 20th. Gifts DO NOT have to be purchased. Feel free to be creative and create or craft a gift. If you do intend on purchasing a gift, let’s try to keep it in the $20 range. Inflation has not come to inforoo dot com.
5. Don't be "that person". If you participate and are assigned as someone's Secret Santa, don't leave them without a gift. Please be prepared to participate if you e-mail me. That being said, bad things do happen, so if you have to drop out for some reason, please let me know so arrangements can be made.
6. Registration requirements: With personal information being handed out, there is no choice but to keep this somewhat secure. The threshold that was decided on in years past was a minimum of 500 posts AND/OR 2 years account activity. Should you not meet these requirements but still want to participate, please post in this thread and have someone vouch for you. In addition, participants must be in good standing with the moderator team.

1. What is your favorite genre of music? I don’t really know. I think I’ve linked my workout playlist, which has a lot of my favorite songs on it. It’s an Apple Music playlist, though, so I don’t know if anybody else uses that.

1. What is your favorite genre of music? Very much an indie rock guy, although I do like things that skew on the dancier side, too.
2. What is your favorite musical artist? Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, The National, King Gizzard, St. Vincent, Bjork, Kate Bush.

4. What is your favorite sports team? The New York Knicks
5. What is your favorite non-music related hobby? A lot of my hobbies are music-related - I play instruments and write songs, DJ, etc. I spend a lot of time playing with my daughter and generally dad-ing it up. I also love reading, surfing, working out...and I have been known to get very much sucked into the occasional video game (see: My six-month run with Baldur's Gate 3 late last year/early this year). Oh, yeah, I also play D&D, although I often have difficulty with attendance/availability. 6. What is your favorite color? Hunter green
7. What is your favorite animal? My dog, Disco. And whales.
8. What are your favorite TV Shows/Movies? Giant nerd, so I am into most nerdy stuff, although I'm too much of a chicken to enjoy horror at all. I love Star Wars (but hate the fandom), Lord of the Rings, really bad disaster movies (like San Andreas or Geostorm), the filmography of Paul Thomas Anderson, comedies both romantic and otherwise. On TV, I like most of the typical prestige dramas, but I can't stand shows (and this goes for movies, too, I suppose) in which the protagonist is a total asshole and/or there's no one to root for or identify with. Current/recent faves: Shrinking, For All Mankind, English Teacher, Top Chef (which is ironic, because I can't cook for shit), Shogun, Nobody Wants This, Rings of Power.
Also, I am a sucker for shows/movies about bands and music.
9. What is your favorite book? If I had to pick one, it would be the Lord of the Rings. Most interesting book I've read recently is How Music Got Free, an in-depth look at the rise of music piracy in the aughts. I love fantasy and science-fiction but despise never-ending series that just go on forever. And I really enjoy non-fiction books that find cool angles on popular music or artists.
10. What is your favorite restaurant/fast food joint? I try not to eat fast food. I go to Mighty Oak Roasters, my local coffee spot, daily. I also really enjoy Macoletta, a pizza place by where I live.
11. What is your favorite "Munchies"? Savory-flavored popcorn, cookies with some sort of chocolate component.
12. Are you a collector of anything? Musical instruments, Udemy courses that I don't finish, vinyl...my collecting options are limited by the small size of NYC apartments.
13. What else do you want "Santa" to know about you? My daughter is going to be 3 this December and is absolutely the center of my world right now. She's awesome and I'm fully into dad-ing it up.
14. What is your favorite Christmas candy/treat? My wife makes stromboli every Christmas and it's the best part of the season for me. Also enjoy most anything Christmas treat-wise as long as there's chocolate involved.
15. Is there anything people should not get you? I don't typically wear anything that's brightly-colored - so, like, not much into reds, oranges, yellows, or bright greens. I really dislike olives. Not thinking of much beyond that - I'm just happy for Santa to think of me.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
