showering at the Roo must be done. it dragged on my Roo experience in 04 and 05 when i didnt shower.
so this year, we're going all-out. ordered the top-of-the-line Shower Shelter from the top-of-the-line outdoors retailer. its the $99 Shower Shelter from Cabelas. comes with a free Solar Shower 5-Gallon bag, plus we have 2 more bags.
im guessing lots of people have gone this route at the Roo. my question is about the runoff. will the gallons of water coming out of the shower tent totally sog out the area? do i need a wooden palate to set the Shower up on or should we be fine without one?

I just hung a solar shower off the roof of my car and showered right there beside it in shorts. I never used much water, so it didn't pose a problem (plus it wasn't near anyone tents).
thanks for your input, fcowboy. i am wondering if anyone here has had any experience emptying multiple solar showers in the same area.
the ground at the roo can get awfuly muddy and i was just wondering how much water one spot could handle. im guessing i may need a wooden palate, but maybe the intense heat will dry the runoff all up, who knows. seriously - who knows??

Man! The best part of Bonnaroo is not having to worry about showering all weekend!
Is your solar shower portable enough to bring it to and "open part" of the campground. Some of the campgrounds have a large patch of grass where people aren't camping (particularly near the backs) and you could bring it back there, perhaps if there's a tree to hang it on. Otherwise I don't think it will cause that much of a mes, and you might be right about the heat drying it up quick anyway. It would probably only soak a 4x4 ft area of ground anyway.
Hey Kemosabe we ordered the same shower shelter from cabelas a couple weeks ago. We set it up in our back yard this past weekend and it's really nice, very easy to set up too. It took us less than 10mins. We like it because it's so big and gives you enough room to shower freely and get dressed.
We used that very same shower shelter at Roo with no problems. Keep in mind that it will only take a couple of gallons of water for each shower. Ours was set up in a grassy area in our campsite, and the water soaked right into the ground. There were nine people in our group, and everyone showered daily. We did have a small tarp underneath.
Last year we bought the Zodi system that a previose poster has mentioned. It was really awesome. We had hot showers in a matter of minutes last year. If you follow the directions you will love it. The only problem we had was that I was too cheap or not inovative enough to buy a portable shower stall, so I made one. It was the worst, it was hard to keep the shower stall up from falling over and showering at the same time. I am not the handy at designing these kind of things. By Saturday afternoon our home made shower stall had totally collapsed and was of no working condition. So unless you wanted to shower nude for all to see, we did not shower from then on. So this year I bought a portabls shower tent. I bought it on ebay(new) and I just got it a few weeks ago. We put it up on sunday afternoon and to my surprise I am really freakin amazed on how big it is and I cannot wait to use it. It is truely first class. So this year, hot showers in a matter of a minute in a real shower tent. I cannot wait to get there and be dirty to try it. If any one has some extra cash and wants to make a wise investment I highly recomend it. Hey and if you are close to us, I am all up for trading showers for things.

wow! never knew there was a product called "butt paste"
that makes me giggle a bit , have the sense of humor of a 5 year old at times
showers seem like a giant pain in the rear for roo. i'll be taking the less complicated and maybe a little smelly route, if all goes well i won't even care or notice

Baby wipes really do work pretty well as a makeshift shower... You can wipe your whole body down and it really does clean you and leave you feeling refreshed... Im not dissing on the solar shower thing though its a great idea just too much hassle for me to set up and break down at every fest i go to, especially when im backpacking... Its a part of the experience for me to maintain a certain level of greasyness, a few baby wipes and you can keep from being nasty but still rock the festival funk with style...
Years ago when I went to NASCAR races I did not have a shower in our small pop-up camper. Get a solar shower....It makes you feel 100% better. It does not take much water and it heats up quick...
you know, i hear a lot about people wanting goldbond to prevent moisture - but for me, nothing works like A&D - i think its along the same vein as butt paste - its more of a oil/fat that keeps everything lubed and prevents chafing...
im on the screw the shower wagon. but walmart sell these colmane camp shower towels. its basically a huge wet wipe. but they work well. and they are big enough you can use a different corner for all of the different regions of funk. i really liked them and am getting the again. althoguh im sure small wipes work just as well but this was a thicker towel type thing that absorbs funk and not just move it around so much... dont forget the lysol disinfectant wipes for the porta potty seats!!!
Dont they provide showers for like $5 a pop? I know they did in 2004 cuz every morning I would get up and go take a cold azz shower, it was like heaven.
Last year I brought a tupperware container, shampoo, soap, and a washcloth. I would fill up the container at the water trough, bring it back to my campsite, and my boyfriend and I would "bathe". It was an easy way to get a lot of the sunscreen and dirt off, and it felt nice before bed.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
