Hey everyone, this will be my first trip down to Manchester and all the threads have been great and informative in preparing me for it. The one issue that still remains is my fear to drive my car down, a Civic. Is the terrain once you hit the farm terrible, or is it not really an issue? I'm also a little worried about possibly getting stuck out there if it rains hard.
Are there any distinct advantages to coming in a truck? I probably can borrow my roommates if I need to for my two friends and I, but if nothing is gained from it, would prefer to spare the hassle. Thanks and am looking forward to enjoing the weekend with you all!!
If things get really muddy, it's definitely easier with a truck or four wheel drive vehicle. Last year I took my Element and things went smoother than the year before, when we took my stepdad's hoopty van. The van got stuck a couple of times while the Honda just plowed through. The thing is, if you get stuck, people will always be there to help push you out and a situation where you can't be pushed out is incredibly unlikely. So yeah, if you can get the truck, it might be a little easier, but you'll be just fine in your Civic. This year we're taking my buddy's two door Saturn and I'm not worried at all.
We're coming in my wife's Toyota Corrola, the biggest vehicle we own. It's our truck. We've used it to transport 14' pieces of baseboard and all sorts of other materials for our home renovation project. It'll be loaded down with two people and a lot of gear, but driving for 13 hours each way, the gas mileage will be way better than driving a truck.
BTW, thanks for starting the mud/vehicle thread. I was wondering about that myself but never thought to just ask
suck it up and deal i think that should be the official mantra for any mishaps that pop up
trust, I hear that, but it certainly isn't a bad idea to prevent any mishaps/headaches from happening beforehand to make the weekend as awesome and stress free as possible. thanks for the advice everyone!
yea we're taking the early 90s civic, and i'm not too worried. bring a bag of kitty litter (actually sand would be more kynd to the environment) in case of mud.
