IS people stealing things a big deal or is it not osmehting to worry about. Im bringin a couple of hundred dollars and i would really hate if it got stolen. Are there pitpocketers or anything or should i genreally be alright to carry my money in my back pack or leave it in the tent or something?
Just dont be stupid. 'Roo is a fairly safe place, but its still over 80,000 people, and there will be some thefts. I wouldn't exactly WORRY about havign stuff stolen, but dont chance it. Keep anything you can in the car, and dont walk around with $500 cash sticking out of your pockets and you should be alright
Just let me know where you are camping, and I, Kartman, will be happy to come by and check on your money while you are away. Don't bother thanking me, I'm happy to do it.
Check, you'll be fine. Occasionally someone will swipe some beer, but even that's rare. I lock up my guitar and my cash and leave pretty much everything else out. No thefts in five years, but the past four I've been down Woodland Ave (in BFE) and I theorize that there are fewer thefts there because 1. its isolated and 2. the first folks in get parked there, and I think the first folks ROCK!
Figured I'd post my bad tidings this Roo (4th year!). We got hit, and had our backpacks stolen from our site while at the DMB show. I had a bad feeling, and it was my dumb fault for only hiding it in our tent (so I admit idiocy here).
That being said, I hope the quacker rots for stealing my bag with both sets of my prescription glasses and my Alite chair (which is in orange, and is also not produced anymore). If I see you at Roo next year with my chair, I will punch you in the face, regardless of vibes. I know I was the only mother quacker with that style chair out of 80k people, so do us both a favor and don't bother bringing it so I won't know the difference.
My friends car keys were in his bag, so at least the people didn't decide to take his car too. Personally, I could give a Leno about my wallet and the bag...I just want my prescription glasses, black baseball hat (well broken in!) and chair lolin.
Had another great Roo...Deadmau5 was awesome, and looking forward to next year! And to anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and be sure to lock your Leno up. The line at the lost and found Monday morning clearly indicates there was a planned "theft wave" for Sunday night while everyone was at the DMB show. I'm guessing this will become more of the norm, not less, unfortunately.
some POS came to our campsite, WHILE WE WERE THERE SLEEPING, and went through a camelback that was left on a chair just outside my window. Lucky for them I didn't wake up, something this Marine wouldn't have tolerated. Anyways, it was still our mistake for leaving it out but they took $85 from the bag and bounced. Lesson learned.

Our group of about 10 peeps were in Ed Rooney right next to the heavy foot traffic on shakedown street.
Upon entry, I was being hurried to set up my tent in front of my car and one of my chairs fell out of the trunk on the ground. I noticed some sketchy folks mingling around but didn't have much time to react. They walked away with the chair. It was no big deal - the chair only cost $9 and we still had more than enough for everyone and new friends.
That was our only theft of the festival - all other coolers, chairs, tables and tents were untouched.
I'm knocking on wood but in seven Roos I haven't had anything stolen. In fact, last year somebody walked by LEFT a glass pipe and sunglasses in one of our bumpers!
I try and keep as much as possible in my car but I do still get worried, especially when I'm rolling solo. I don't bring much of value with me, try and stay friendly with the neighbors (a challenge for an introvert like myself) and hope for the best!
Six Roo's and nothing stolen. 1 Allgood and had a cooler full of beer stolen. Not the most upsetting thing to have taken but it was my only form of entertainment besides the music.....

It was our first Roo this year... Sat morning we woke up to someone else's backpack in the middle of our campsight. We didn't look through it, just brought it over to lost and found.... Good karma right? Unfortunately our grill got swipped in the middle of night, woke up monday morning with the charcoals tossed on the ground outside the tent... Not cool.

Bottom line don't leave anything around or inside your tent unless you don't mind it getting taken. I leave my air mattress in the tent and everything else on me or locked in the car. It's a no brainer, there will always be the odd dhead running around with the express purpose of taking stuff.
I had about 10 brats cooked up, 3 buffalo chicken and blue cheese flavored, 2 apple flavored, 2 salsa flavored, 2 3-cheese flavored and 1 habenaro flavored brat stolen. I hope he choked on the habernaro flavored brat after taking one bite. kinda ruined our dinner for friday night

Quick update. I got this random priority mail package today, no return address. I asked my wife "wtf, what is this?" She laughs and states "something you bought no doubt."
Huh? I open it...
Inside is my stolen wallet with everything in there minus the 30 bucks (credit cards and everything is exactly where I put it). Now...if I could just get my glasses and black hat back...
Thank you to the Roo staff (I'm guessing) or whoever for sending me the wallet
