so, the state of south carolina puts about as much money into the DMV as they put into public schools (read: the bare bones minimum). as a result, my drivers license has become unlaminated and just exists as a few thin sheets of plastic. it hasn't expired or anything, but i don't know how valid it is in this condition. i would glue it back together, but that might completely void its validity.
i'm over 21 and all, so i'd don't want a valid license to look like i'm an underage kid with a fake.
anyway, am i gonna need it at any time? do i need to devote a morning between now and wednesday to standing in line at the DMV to get it renewed? any opinions? or should i have just been a big boy and made a decision for myself.

according to another thread you probably won't need an ID at all, i wouldn't worry about it
also, what kind of turnaround time do you have at your DMV where you could get a new one by roo! it takes forever in CA, i would've had to ask this question last year!
I think the only thing you could get at the DMV would be a temporary license. Once they issue a temp license, it's my understanding that it's technically illegal to carry around the one with the picture since it's supposed to be destroyed at the point a new ID is issued.
Unless they really make the laminated licenses on the spot at the DMV, I'd think crazykittensmile's right, you won't get the photo ID in time. You'd probably be better off if someone did ID you with a license with faulty lamination than a temporary license without a picture.

in sc, you can go to the DMV and get a real license. it doesnt take as long as you think, if you can go by in the morning instead of lunch hour. ALSO, my girlfriend took hers back because it was screwed up like that and they didn't make her pay for a new one. (it was here in columbia) you probably wont need one inside bonnaroo, but i'd get one just in case. you dont want to give any cops ANY reason to hassle you on the ride there and back.
in tn and nj (the only places i've ever tried to get a license), they make them right on the spot. i couldn't believe it when my sister told she she waited weeks to get one in texas.

In Florida, you can call and make an appointment, if not, go on Tuesday if you can Mondays are the worst. Here in FL, I was in and out with a new laminated license in less then 20 minutes. I would get a new one if possible. Like they said, less reasons for a hassle. Besides, you will have the greatest smile on your face because you are a day away from roo ;D

Speaking of waiting weeks to get your license in Texas it is very true. I had just moved there around my 21st bday and went to get a license but had to wait. So, I couldn't even get into any bars on my 21st cuz they didn't want to take that stupid paper one they give you temp. Everything related to the gov in Texas takes forever.

i've gotten them in tennessee and texas, and when i got my texas license i was amazed that they gave me a slip of paper and told me that my real id would be there in a few weeks. i was like nigga please! it takes 5 minutes to make em in tennesee! i even got my school id which is exactly like a license on the spot

Actually, probably just like that ;D ;D ;D
you are so right - it'll be worth it just for the good picture with the genuine smile. (even though the picture on my old one was pretty cute - it's quite a few years old, and it was my first license, so i was still pretty baby-faced in the picture)
