How's the weather been in Manchester the passed couple days? I know where I am it's been quite cool. Maybe we'll get lucky this year and the sun won't torch our skin off.
OK. Close enough to zero hour to have some confidence in the forecast, and it's getting hotter. Every day of the fest is now projected at 90 degrees plus, with forecast highs for Sunday at 94!
This really does change things. You may not want to hear it, and you may be one of those hardy souls who are already adapted to it, but you really have to make your mantra:
Avoid the sun at all costs.
Here's what I do:
Wear sunscreen from the moment I arrive (burns setting up are very common, people get excited and forget)
Wear a hat always
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Try drinking your water at air temp.
Limit/eliminate daytime alcohol intake
Most importantly, I plan my movements from shade to shade. The mist tents will be very crowded, but the more the merrier. On days like we have ahead, I move from mist tent to mist tent, or from mist tent to shade, and I carry that silly parasol.
Finally, accept the fact that missing a show because the heat has gotten to you is FAR better than heat stroking out and spending all day in the med tent. There will be tons of heat casualties this year; you don't have to be one of them, but you gotta AVOID THE SUN!

yea, def limit day time alcohol, or don't start until the evening. dehydration will be your worst enemy, and over use of alcohol in the heat is the number one cause of it
Well, I just stepped out into the 100 degree Texas heat and lived through a few minutes of it
It's gonna be hot. I'm glad to see the humidity is going to be low. I looked at the travel forecast from the front page of intellicast.com and it looks like there will be a high pressure system over roo the whole week. I'd image that will keep a lot of the humidity pushed away. It's the only saving grace from the heat.
One other suggestion... We picked up some $2 misting fans that take a single AA battery at Academy a few weeks ago to carry with us. I'm anticipating they will be a godsend during the days, especially Saturday's campout for a spot to see Radiohead. Heat or no heat, I can't miss that one. Let's just hope I live through it to see Radiohead, especially after posting this cuz that'd be damn creepy to have this be my last post ever.
