lol my question entering this thread may have just been answered, but is there any realistic chance of me getting all the way up front for Tool at all? Like, I don't mind holding the fort down for a couple of hours ahead of time.

I got to Tom Petty last year about an hour before he went on and i got up to the front no problem, sure im 5'4 and look like im 15 but i was with others who got up there too, its all a matter of slowley building your way up there. (throught the show if you have to)
The hands-down funniest commentary about pissing your pants in public ever, especially useful for those of you considering the afore-mentioned stadium pal.
I have a tiny bladder, so the stadium gal is almost looking appealing. Can anyone say 'free bikini wax'

was anyone around for the MAD DASH from the gates to the stage on the morning of radiohead last year?
i showed up about fifteen minutes before they were letting people in, around 10:15 am. i was actually there with the intent to get a good spot for the neville brothers & it hadn't clicked yet that the crowd was planning on camping out for radiohead, who weren't on til what, 8 or 8:30 that night.
needless to say... when those security guards lifted the barriers... most insane rush of my LIFE. it's GOTTA be at least a quarter mile run from the gates to that stage. and when a thousand kids wearing long skirts and lugging blankets and chairs are intent on getting front row for radiohead no matter what, crazy stuff happens.
turns out my digital camera, which i'd hung around my neck, was recording VIDEO the entire time i was running to the stage and spreading out my blanket roundabout the 10th row to reserve space. (i realized it was recording and turned it off before the 10 hour wait without bathroom or food in the glaring tennessee sun that was soon to follow
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
I would much rather wander around Centeroo, eat pizza, drink beer, smoke baccy, catch a movie, play in the fountain, lay in a hammock, use the bathroom, and generally have a kick ass time than bust my ballz for eight + hours to get near the stage for a set later that night. I'm very comfortable with my usually mediocre seat where I can lay down, dance, and generally goof off, not to mention catch other shows on some other stage.

Oh my God. This is just like that drug trip I saw in that movie while I was on that drug trip.

yes.
basically, show up super early. then, inch forward as people leave. last year i made it to first row radiohead but had to wait through every saturday set to make it that far. although, i planned on seeing costello and beck, anyways, so it all worked out. the bad part was that after radiohead, i was close to passing out (i ran out of water half way through the day), so i couldn't stay in that good spot to see petty.

if you get to the mainstage during the preheadliner (whoever plays right before tool)... about halfway through the set, and work your way as far up as you can, then right after that show, when people leave to pee, get in gear for tool, etc, move up again
you won't be front row, but you could get pretty close
otherwise get there at noon and tough it out til midnite
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

all the way up front? you gotta camp otu all day. if you're really into tool it'll be worth it though. i have a feeling this'll be a hell of a show
yea you better plan on sitting there all day if you want front row for tool. also if the crowd starts pushing forward too much maynard will bitch and not play until people chill out.
Not sure if this was mentioned earlier on this thread, but a new thread has been started about getting a big group together for the Police, from which indiduals can go out for potty/food/drink breaks, without losing your space. If you get enough dedicated people to partcipate, it can work for any group you want to see.....
