I would like to know what it is like to volunteer at Bonnaroo. I've bought 10klf tickets and can't wait for that. But, I've been to Bonnaroo the last three years in a row. As excited as I am for 10klf I'm sad about missing roo. So, I've been thinking about maybe volunteering so I could maybe afford both. I'd like to hear some stories, both good and bad, about volunteering. How long were the shifts? Did you get to decide what time of day to work? When do you get your ticket money refunded? What kind of work did you do? What did the free meals consist of and how many did you get? Any other freebies? Would you do it again? Where was the employee campground? Or anything else you may think I would find relevant. Thanks so much!

BRILLIANt! volunteers get a free ticket, one free meal a day, shower access, and prime camping spots! the application to volunteer also has a spot for the "two shows you can't miss" so you have some flexibility with scheduling. here's the link for last year's volunteers

I did also find this though (i love google soo sooo much), for those who are exceptionally paranoid about missing all the awesome music action at bonnaroo, cleanvibes does have a similar volunteer program with cleanvibes where you can get your ticket for free, do the regular bonnaroo thing, and then volunteer POST festival. that'd be pretty bomb, you know it would probably still be a big party, just a big productive party:
quote: "Clean Vibes Still Needs Post-Show Bonnaroo Volunteers
Clean Vibes is still looking for a few individuals to serve as post-show volunteers at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival. Individuals are required to work on Tuesday June 20 and Wednesday June 21 to help clean up the site. In exchange, each volunteer will receive a ticket, along with a Clean Vibes' event t-shirt and meals, while working (volunteers must make a $250 deposit which is refunded in full at the completion of their shifts). Interested folks should email the Clean Vibes doynne, Anna B (annab@cleanvibes.com). "
This may very well be the way to go... i think i shall email this chica to see if she knows who to contact for interested 2007 volunteers
This looks like a fantastic idea, but Ive got some conflicting information here. On the other forum, the guys said that he only worked 3-4 hours a day, while the application website for the same year says that you are required to work 3-4 8 hour shifts. If its the first one, Id be down, but the latter, I'm not sure.
Any more opinions on this? Its a great idea, but I feel like I'd miss too much Roo.

One thing I did notice on the Bonnaroo website was it said the dates for festival volunteering were June 14th to 20th last year. Which would have kept them there until Tuesday. That wouldn't be possible for me. Hopefully you can just work the festival days and leave Monday with everyone else.

Oh, I know for a fact that the Post-roo, clean vibes clean up is nothing but a big ole party!!!
Im thinking about doing it. Do they still camp? What about food? I think this could be the ticket, though, Im not sure how I would get down there. Have to have someone who goes with me do it too.

i have to work an event through wednesday night before bonnaroo - when we usually leave. work is totally cramping my style this year, so i doubt i'd be able to do the post-show cleanup.

^^^^ awwwwwwww
you won't be alone, just meet up with fellow inforooers! Are you going to be flying down? Do ya know yet? All the better, you don/t have to convince anyone else to volunteer with you, just a big ole party two days longer than anyone elses
Well, the thing is, I am either going alone (which means driving from Michian by myself, or getting a ride with someone) or I'm going with my boyfriend. He definately won't be able to stay the extra day, so I would need a ride up afterward. So many complications. All I know, is the last thing I need is to volunteer alone, and be stranded in Tennessee, with all of my camping sh*t.
So... anyone from Michigan want to volunteer with me?

i volunteered in the campgrounds with the info booths...i had to have a voucher for the amount of my ticket and they give it back when you've completed your duties. I got there wednesday and then got to leave on monday morning. it was a pretty sweet gig but i haven't heard anything about this year.
There is a new email for 2007 Bonnaroo volunteers volunteers@bonnaroo.com
I think the same person that coordinated volunteers last year is going to be doing it again this year, which will help make it a good experience. I know they always need volunteers.
yeah...they ran out of volunteers in the campgrounds last year and the volunteer coordinator's determined to get all of the volunteers confirmed so it won't happen this year.

thats exactly what i did last year as far as travelling....
im really interested in volunteering...question for ya: is it possible to A). prefer/pick times of the day to work or B). to work WITH people who you travelled with?
a). because i was up at like 5am everyday and would love to bang out my time in the early morning
b). cuz one or two dudes im going with wants to volunteer too and it would be sweet to work together
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

So guess who just got their confirmation for pre-fest volunteers! They were really quick with the reply - only about 10 days from when I sent in the app! So this means FREE BONNAROO! Mad exciting -- hopefully see some other info-roo'sters there!
