I have been to one Bonnaroo and am looking forward to many more, but i was hoping to call on all the veterans out there to give me suggestions. I already learned the hard way to sleep late and stay up later (missed several awesome shows due to exaustion) and to drink plenty of water. Other than that, I'm just here to have a good time and see as many shows as possible. Any tips/hints/etc. would be awesome.
Go to the dollar sample rack at your local CVS or equalivant and pick up gold bond, anti-septic wipes, mouthwash, purell etc and keep some at your camp and some in your pack. I'm not a neat freak by any strech of the imagination, but you will find these items invaluable to you or others around you. Nothing beats being able to sanatize a port o john seat or your hands before eating that delicious elephant ear you just bought. And a little water and liquid soap give you a good, fresh start to the day.
Damn, I sound like a johnson and Johnson commercial
I'm one for bringing as little as possible but a luxary that is really worth the hassle is to bring a camping shower. When I went to All Good we bought a $30 tent thats shaped exactly like a port-a-potty. It has a hook on the inside to hang one of those camping showers from. The floor has vents in it so the water runs out and there are pouches inside to put stuff in. Took a shower every evening before the headliners and felt like a new person. It really was rejuvinating.
dont sit very far off to the side of te stages. at petty last year we were off to the right and the sound was horrible. everyone was yelling for them to turn it up. about 3 songs in i went to the portapotties and noticed it sounded 3 times better. so we moved over to the middle and it sounded so much better. so now we are always dead center. even if it is way in the back.

I right there with ya Dude! My wife and I went up to the 3rd row for Neil Yound and could only handle it for abour 4 songs. We then moved off to the side but the sound was terrible. Eversince that it's dead center for me, usually bring the low riding lawn chair and sit 5-10 rows from the food and drinks......works for me anyway.
Crazykitten, Teine, and I were like right on the front fence for Damian Marley at Vegoose. I drug them up there an hour before because I wanted to be close....
Well, we were damn close!!! So close in fact that when the music started, I felt like someone was hitting me as hard as they could in the chest, the bass was just so hard!!
I tried to hide behind Joel for a little while, but it didn't help, so after dragging my group up there early and making them wait for an hour there, I moved back about 10 - 15 rows of people before the first song was even over!! I felt lke an idiot, but damn!!! I have never felt anything like that in my life.
Beware of the giant stacks, the will kick your ass!!!

in my opinion the four most important things are goldbond (cream or powder, whichever is easier to apply for you), water, sunscreen (no matter what you usually apply yu should buy the highest spf you can find, and comfortable foot-wear. if you don't mind sweat than shoes work perfectly fine, but if you can't stand that awful sweaty feeling in your shoe than i highly suggest a pair of sandles you can just throw away, or buying a specific pair of sandles only for roo

this year i'm bringin an alarm clock with batteries so i can maybe get some sleep and still wake up for some late night sets
but plz if anyone else brings one, get an alarm clock with a soothing alarm, the last thing i want to hear at roo is the BEEP BEEP BEEP of someone's alarm going off and them too tired to wake up to turn it off
Earplugs on a cord will allow you to sleep through all the late-night/early-morning campground noise. Be sure to get the one's on a cord. You don't want to have to pry one out of your ear as you're basically having a panic attack that it got too far down your ear during sleep (take a guess how I found this out). A corkscrew works OK in a pinch to remove them, though. Just don't thread it too far down!
While I've been lucky enough to avoid serious ball on thigh chaffing at past Roos, I've ordered the free sample of this stuff and will be bringing it along to fests this summer. Thanks for the heads up!
Gold Bond has zinc too. I don't know if the Monistat stuff has it. Zinc helps protect against "crotch rot" as my Dad used to refer when talking about the humidity issues in Vietnam. I use it as much for that reason as the chafing.
I used Bodyglide last year and it worked great. After the first day I was there I started to chafe, so I put some of this stuff on and problem solved for the rest of the weekend. You just apply it like you would if you were using a deodorant stick.
