ive seen it at every fest i have been to except roo. i think its just so many people that they dont allow it. ive seen led poi, out away from people. but i think theyd get on you for fire. i wish they wouldnt though.. i love watching.
I saw it at Roo in 04 in Centeroo, no less. My friend and I left Dave and Friends and went to the tent stage area to chill out away from the crowds. We stumbled across a large drum circle with firedancers and the whole 9......Here's a pic.....
Now I dunno if they still allow it or not. I'd think you could probably get away with it though.
No, but he is madly in love with that guitar, and he refuses to bring it cause he doesnt want to leave it in the tent and have it stolen. I tof him to leave it in the car, but he doesnt want it to get so hot.
i think the fire spinners in centeroo were part of the centeroo people they hire. i cant rememebr what the call them. but i think they were there to do that. i doubt they are going to let you through the centeroo checkpoint with flammable stuff. or even the initial car search if they find it. but more power to you. they wont throw you out or anything. worst case is they take your stuff.
nelson ledges quarry park in ohio is a fire spinners paradise. they let ya get crazy on the beach. dont know if you do crazy shit like that but if you ever make it to nelson ledges or legend valley i know they guy in that pic and hes happy to teach people how he does that amazing stuff. the picture dosent do it justice. those sparks are flying 60 feet in the air. it lasts like a minute or 2. at the ledges they do it on a point and it goes out over the water. all the refelctions off the water. its amazing. at harvest jam particle took time out of their show to thank them for doing the craziest shit they had ever seen. i love to watch but id be on fire in a sec if i tried.
I think in 04, it was the end of the "Parade" thing that they had. there were a bunch of people dressed up and whatnot at the drum circle. It's all a little blurry.
haha thanks thats all poi iv only had them for about a month now before i got my poi i was spinning staff (i made it with a broom handle, bluejeans and 6 nails)
haha im alot better at poi than staff im gunna bring them but i dont know if i should bring fuel or not i guess i can bring some and just say its for a lantern b/c i used camp fuel from walyworld
Bring 'em. You can always play with 'em at your tent after all the bands are done while coming down before passing out.
I myself am looking forward to meeting as many poi swingers/glowstringers as I can to learn new moves/transitions and keep the masses visually entertained with my strobing red/green/blue LED sticks.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Any spinners in the Cincinnati area? I really want to start learning this not just because it is really cool but it also has some great health benefits like relieving stress and high blood pressure.
im gunna bring them and il have fuel for my lantern thungy so hopefully now one will have a problem with it im learning some more neat tricks i can get on my knees and do some fun shit behind my head now
id love to show ppl the AMAZIN feelin to spin it over powers you iv gottin over 20 kids around here into it
i've been considering buying some of the fire equipment for a little while now since i'm absolutely addicted to my led strings
hoping i run into someone swinging fire poi while im there so i can try em out to make sure i like before i buy.
i totally agree with you on the feeling you get from spinning. when you really get in synch with the momentum of the poi, its like you're not even swinging them anymore, they tell YOU what to do. ive learned some pretty cool moves & transitions that i wasnt even thinking about at the time just by listening to my instincts and feeling what the flow was telling me to do.
