I see alot of great pictures from the Roo. I took a disposable camera last year because im so afraid of ruining my digital camera and you how frustrating that is with not knowing if the pictures are going to come out and I always regret it when I get home and get them developed. Do you guys go through any special precautions with digital cameras? I bought a pretty kick ass case for it but Im still worried about bringing it.
Like otmealschnappz said just bring something to keep it dry for when the rain comes. Nobody that i went with last year had any problems with our cameras
ya i bought a nice case. moisture and shock resistanct. and then i always put it in a ziploc. and into the backpack. mines pretty small even in the case so if its not going to rain i put it in my pocket hooked to my wallet chain so it wont get lost. most of the time its in the car locked up though. because its too bulky to dance withit in my pocket and i dont want to leave it sitting in my backpack as im off dancing and partying. too afraid someone will walk off with it. sucks when ya dont get pics of things youfd love to. but losing the camera would suck even more. im thinking about getting a cheap one at the pawn shop for festivals. i saw one for 35 bucks. if that got ruined it wouldnt ruin my day.
last year, and the year before, i got disposables, and developed them on a CD, but i was not very happy with the quality. This year, as long as i can get a memory card with enough on it, i am using the digital, most def
just keep your receipt and box so if it messes up you can return it. Or buy a new digi right before roo take a bunch of pics, then when you get back get the pics off the cam and return it for a refund. I have a sony cybershot 8mp, fits in my pocket and i carried it everywhere last year. the rain could have posed a problem but a zip lock would solve that.

What about those disposible digital cameras? If the picture dosen't come out good you can just delete it. If you lose it, then no big deal. A friend of mine uses those when he goes hiking, and it seems to work out pretty well.

that concept doesn't make sense to me. for what reason would you dispose of it? is the whole camera dead once the battery goes dead or something? Personally, I think far too many things in this world are "disposable" and end up in land-fills; which I see as a problem.

Actually, if youre willing to put a small amount of time and effort into it those can be moded to last. Theres alot of write-ups on the net on how to turn those one-use digitals into multi-use. I dont even think there's any soldering involved.
My newest phone has a half-way decent 2mp camera on it. With the auto-focus and other features it takes some pretty good pics. Anybody know what (If any) rules they have on zoom lenses? Most venues will let you bring digis, just nothing pro with a zoom or anything.
Id still love to finally buy some nice mics and start bootlegging again, but its just too much of a bother at roo. Most of the sets are recorded anyway (Except Seu's set last year which smoked).

Pretty much the same at 'roo. I never saw anyone get hassled about a point-and-shoot camera. I read one post elsewhere on this board that said they got a little bit of grief with their SLR digital b/c it had a detachable lens. But they just hid the lens in a friend's bag separate from the camera body and got it in. This might be another good use of the Pringles can trick that a few people have used to smuggle beer into Centeroo.

Thanks for the info. I dont normally bring cameras to shows because I live in NY. If I get hassled at the door Im either throwing my camera out or going home. That pringles idea is a good one. In all my concert experiences the best place for anything (If its small enough) is right in your back pocket next to your wallet. No lurch looking security guard will ever shove his hand into the pocket containing your wallet.

I saw a guy (during Beck)last year with a very nice, professional looking camera fitted with a zoom lens. My girlfriend asked him how he got it into Centeroo and he said he just put it in his backpack and covered it with a shirt. I think, like with everything else, it just depends on wich security guy you get going in.

GENIUS! what a fantastic idea.
Yes, the Pringles thing is a wonderful idea! I hate canned beer and I'm not big on draft either.. I'm a glass bottle fan. Perhaps I can buy some of those plastic bottled beers this year..
Bring your digital for sure. I didn't bring mine the first year and used disposables. I kept the disposable in a ziplock bag and was extremely pissed off when 50% of the pictures my fiance took had the plastic bag in the photo. Grr....

Hey, Does anybody have an old SD memory card for Fuji Film digital cameras that are just sitting around getting no use. If so, a donation would be greatly appriciated. I only have the original one that came with the camera, cause they are so damn expensive, and im pretty broke.
i have a 512k one that came with mine that i dont use. but 512k is pretty useless. they arent really that expensive. i got a 2 gig for my camera for 70 bucks. and on ebay they have 1 and 2 gig sd cards with buy it now prices under 10 bucks.
