Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Something that I tried last year that was really helpful was to put a canopy or tarp OVER my tent. It worked out great, and deflected a LOT of heat during the morning hours--which I know someone mentioned that previously (it really does suck to wake up hot in a tent). Another fix for this is a battery-powered fan. We actually used some bungee cords to rig ours up to the top of our tent so it would blow on us during the night. We were proud of our rigging-up skills, needless to say.
Yes, it's hot as Leno. Yes, you need water. It's obvious, but you underestimate it always. I like to take those little spritzer fans in my backpack. They were easy to carry (lightweight, didn't weigh our pack down) and came in VERY handy. It's reinvigorating to have a little cool water and fan on your face in the hot sun.

this is very nitpicky, and only applies to about 10% of people, but i'll throw it out there anyways:
if you have an iphone, blackberry, etc. (basically a phone that you don't want something to happen to it) leave it behind. or if you can't go several days without having your cell phone, either switch over to an old cell phone for the weekend or buy a crappy one online for cheap.
it might seem like a waste of 10-15 bucks, but if you're like me and you have problems holding onto your phone or keeping it dry, it's a nice little insurance policy to have.

I've been looking forward to using my Android phone this year posting my Bonnaroo experience to Facebook\Twitter. Also using the GPS to find my test if needed. But your thoughts have been growing in my mind too. I have an older phone I can activate and do most of want, and battery life won't be such an issue either. I'll be bringing both regardless, just in case.
Yeah, following the fest on Twitter last year was fun and I intend to do so again this year. It is Hell on the battery, though. (And a bad way to find out that I in fact did not have unlimited texting!!!)
I found a battery operated fan the other day that I can also use to charge my cell but I want to check out the solar powered cell chargers that they carry at Brookstone before making a decision.

Found my charging solution. Ozark Trail tent fan, it has a 8 D-cell battery back that has a cigarette lighter port on it. Got a splitter to run fan and charge my phone.

I'd consider just writing a post-roo blog or something. 4 days of no facebook/other such silly distractions is one of my favorite parts about bonnaroo. Different strokes though, do what ya will
I brought one my first year but ended up getting parked about three minutes from tent only so it stayed in the car. Seems to be a better solution than the little red wagons I see every year!

hey im coming all the way from canada and something that you 1st timers will not be aware of is the traffic coming into bonnaroo. The traffic could take anywhere from 6-10 hours!! Stay in your cars at all times and make sure you drink alot of water while you are waiting in your car because the heat is 1 big MAMA JAMA!! -Hova
I have a cooler on wheels. I also have a big plastic bin to throw my stuff into. We're doing Tent Only. Is it logical to tie the bin to the cooler and schlep it down there?

I don't think TN is any hotter/more humid than Indiana. There's just the lack of AC on the farm. It's really not that bad as long as you're prepared for it. I seam sealed my tent today and decided to actually tie out the guylines. Here's the easiest knot ever. Forget those rubber slides, just use one of these knots on each end.

You may not be able to use all of your smartphone features on the farm. You will likely have no problem with normal text/call features, but if we're in extended network (verizon) none of the data capabilities will be accessible.
theres some bad red rope licorice going around. dont eat the red rope licorice.
I know this is a rather old post but I just found it and it made me laugh out loud (and I am at work). I love Waynes World. Waynes World 2 inspired me to creat my own music festival in highschool just minus Pearl Jam and Aerosmith and guy fastening a kayac out of a log.
Right after your first Bonnaroo you'll have all these great "lessons learned"-type ideas for how to make the festival even more fun the next year. (Because you WILL be coming back.) Write these ideas down before you forget them, and refer back to them occasionally.
2010 was my third 'Roo and I still kept a list of stuff:
-Wraps are good – grill and chop eight or ten chicken breasts beforehand, and stow the ingredients in the cooler -Don’t need a lot of uncooked food, though – a couple of boxes of mac and cheese, and some shelf-stable bacon and pancakes are fine. -No dry ice – it’s not necessary; just buy ice on Saturday from a vendor -Bring a detailed map of Manchester and a highway atlas and GPS -Don’t necessarily need to bring chairs to the venue – a blanket’s just fine -Take naps in Centeroo -Jump in the fountain instead of taking showers -Have a compass in the truck to orient the tent door away from the sun -2 or 3 cans of spray-on sunscreen -Wear do-rags instead of ball caps -Leave the pillows and bedding in the truck during the day to bake them dry [ALL HAIL TO THE WIFE FOR THINKING OF THIS ONE] -Set the foot bath up before leaving camp -Shower: tap a five gallon-bucket (painted black) with an honest-to-God showerhead on PVC pipe that's removable; set on top of truck; profit. Can build & test this in the driveway to make sure it works well.
I don't necessarily recommend any of these tips; they're just what we think will work for us in 2011 based on what we went through this time around.

does anyone haev any word on how sprint behaves on the farm? i really only plan on using my phone to get a hold of other members in my group, plus i have this neat app that allows me to 'drop crumbs' places and will guide me back to them later. super useful for finding the tent!
I have sprint. Last year I had no problem texting, calling, and sending pics in our camping area. However, while in centeroo, I could not make or receive calls. Texting was also very limited. I would get back to camp and my phone would go crazy with all the text messages and voicemails I had received while in centeroo.

All first timers should go see 127 Hours with James Franco. Then the first weekend of June, just stay outdoors for 127 Hours, lacking all major resources. Then you're ready for the heat.

Haha! I remember when I was getting ready for my first Bonnaroo, I typed something like "preparing for Bonnaroo" into Google, and the first thing that came up was someone's site that said the best way to prepare for Bonnaroo is to get a chair, set it up outside in direct sunlight, and sit there for four days straight.
That google search was also what lead me to inforoo
