I'm not much of a camper. Wondering what people think of coleman tents. I'm just looking for it to make it through Bonnaroo. I don't want to spend a lot on a tent. just wondering Im going to get one anyway but what do you think?

We got a coleman tent last year at Sam's Club for about $45 - it's big enough for about 3-4 to sleep in and 5ft tall so you can almost stand up in it. Now it did not rain while we had it up, but we didn't have any problems with it. It had pleny of vents for air and nice tight seals to keep the bugs out, so it worked for us.
I got a nice Coleman tent on the clearance aisle at Walmart a few years ago. It's been through some pretty tough rains and hasn't leaked yet. Mine has the "Weathertec" system. I'd look for that.

I would go for the Coleman tent, and just buy some waterproofing spray to spray down the seams with, just in case. I would recommend that for any tent, but especially the more inexpensive brands. We bought an Eddie Bauer one from Target last year, and sprayed the seams, and we were dry as could be during the Sunday rainstorm.

If you stayed dry during that downpour you were lucky We had packed up our tent by that time and we were all just dripping wet by the time we got back to our car.

We've used Coleman tents every year and they seem to work very well. In '04 we borrowed my gf's brother's (Coleman) tent and it leaked and collapsed during the (monumental, biblical) rain on saturday. Hilari's brother is (without a doubt) the biggest DOUCHEBAG i've ever met, so it was no surprise that it failed so horribly! After we returned and told him what happened, he admitted that "it leaks pretty f*cking bad, but I didn't think it'd matter all that much". DOUCHEBAG! Jackasses aside, Coleman makes pretty durable, reliable equipment. I think you'll be pleased.

I've never had a problem with Coleman anything, but I use an Ozark Trail tent (cheap at walmart). I water sealed it and the damn thing has been to 4 Bonnaroos. Dry during 04's storms and all. Basically, if you water seal your seams you shouldn't have a problem with most tents.

Yeah, I dig and trust Coleman. My gf's brother told us LATER that his tent had not only been used as a dog-house, but that it had also "failed" him during his first rain experience. It was not only an obviously (rare) defective item but, he also abused it in ways it was never meant for. Coleman is a quality, respectable company that produces reliable camping equipment. My gf's brother is just a jackass who lended us a mis-handled defect. Coleman is definitely trustable. Josh Sheffield is not!
Way to get his name out ther Oatmeal Any tent you get should be watersealed though, Coleman or not. Not that I think you don't know that, you probably trusted him to have done that (mistakenly)

I bought a 2 person coleman tent (for myself) last year, and it worked out great. Nice little vent where you rest your head, and nicely vented all around. And it came with a welcome mat!
Not to sure about Coleman tents but I think it's worth it to buy a good tent. I went with a cheap one in '03 thinking I only needed it for bonnaroo. Well of course I ended up going back to Bonnaroo the next two years also and the tent ended up leaking water in every year. I went with a nice 4 person Eureka last year cuz I realized I was actually using the tent more than I ever thought I would. Although it sounds like if you seal any tent it will work out fine. I didn't seal the cheap tent I had.

I did. He didn't. He sucks. That's all.
So I just want to make sure we all got this straight,
