I stayed in a hotel and daytripped it in last year - you campers really smelled bad by Sunday, by the way.... This year, I'm tent camping (VIP) and the one thing that worries me most is being unable to sleep in the heat. I found this interesting site that explains how to assemble a portable "air conditioner" using a cooler, ice and fan: www.alpharubicon.com/prepinfo/Portableairc.htm

Sleeping in a tent isn't a problem after the sun goes down. We actually got into our sleepings bags at least one of the nights last year because it was pretty chilly. The problem is when the sun comes up and the tent becomes a sauna.
yea, it's actually pretty chilly at night. but we didn't have too much trouble sleeping in the mornings. all you really need to do is make sure you bring a shade tent, tent fans, and plenty of batteries (keep the tent fans near your face). i brought some ear plugs, too, but we were camped so far back, i really didn't even need to use them.
in all, i slept so much better than i had ever anticipated.

My friend has one similiar to this.....it works pretty well....just keep the tent closed at all times. If u go in and out your wasting your time...http://www.kooleraire.com/
I about froze my nards off Thursday night last year. I was totally worried about it being too hot to sleep, and only brought a sheet. Man am I stoopid
Hahaha...I remember Thurs. night last year. That was freezing. I looked over at my best friend and she had taken every article of clothing out of her backpack and covered herself with it.
BTW, I lived in Marin for a summer. Very cool place. Lived in Greenbrae.
if you were really concerned about getting enough sleep, you could make sure you get to bed a bit earlier than the rest of the crowd as long as you don't mind sacrificing some of the later night fun. otherwise, theres plenty of additional tricks you can do with your campsite, additional gear you can bring to help reduce heat, but i found for myself that fighting the heat took too much time & energy away from the rest of the festival that i could've been enjoying.
trust in the bonnaroo spirits (and your own mind/body) to know how much sleep you -need- as opposed to how much you want and you'll be fine.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
dont give up the latenight action!!!! if i need to i find a shady spot in centeroo and nap in the day time. or go into the air conditioned cinema tent. but dont give up the late night. that is where roo truly happens. its magical and not to be missed!!!

All - thanks for the sage advice - I'm hoping I can make the late night shows, but I'm not a spring chicken.... when my internal ticker says it's time for bed - I gotta go .... Hopefully, the cooler nights in TN will refresh me. I'll try the mid-afternoon naps in the shade of a tree in Centeroo. If you see a "cougar" snoring away in the shade - leave me alone, okay...! See you there.
