Roo virgin here.
A lot of threads mention the dust problems at the farm, which concerns me because my husband is asthmatic. Would you vets say that it's dusty in an annoying way but manageable? or would you say that hubby is going to absolutely die, so we may as well drag along some oxygen tanks?
i've heard some people complain about it but it didn't really bother me that bad. the only year i went was last year which was supposed to be the least rainy and it didn't really put me out.

I slit the sheet. The sheet I slit and on the slitted sheet I sit.

The only place I noticed much dust was on the roads near Centeroo. If you are directed to a campsite right next to a major looking thoroughfare, I would explain your situation immediately to the people directing parking to see if they can put you somewhere else.

I have mild ashma and very bad allergies. I used my preventative inhaler (Advair) and took a Claritin D every morning and I was good to go the whole time. I didn't really notice that the dust was bad.......... We were also camped out in the boonies so it was just grass all around us.

I actually never noticed that it was dusty last year until I looked in a mirror and saw all the dust in my hair. I didn't think it was too bad. I would rather have it be dusty than muddy, though I realize it's a different situation for your husband. Chances are that it'll rain and keep the dust down, but you could bring a bandanna just in case, then he'd look like a bandit! dangerous and intriguing!
I have no idea where some of you guys were hanging out, but outside of the paths right around Centeroo, I can't imagine how it would be a problem. I was a stone's throw from the main entrance to Centeroo and had absolutely no problems, nor did I hear anyone mention anything about it. Until I heard folks on the board discussing it, I never even thought about it.
i had no issues with the dust either, though i definitely was sick for a few days after 'roo. i certainly don't think it had anything to do with the dust...i did plenty to pound my immune system into submission on my own.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

Get a neck gaiter. It can be used as a face mask, a bandanna, a doo rag, scrunchy. Give it a hit with Fabreeze, your favorite perfume/cologne/incense, and it might even ease the eau de roo a bit.
how bad was the dust last year? let's just say i had black boogers for nearly a week afterward.
I had the black boogers, an eye infection and Roo cough for two weeks last year. Once home, every time I coughed at work, memories of Roo came rushing back. All well worth it!!

The dust is always a factor but, last year it was a problem. They try to keep the "roads" pretty wet to somewhat decrease it's impact on us but, then you've got mud to deal with. Either way, it's not too bad usually. Bring your inhaler and a bandana, and you will probably be fine.
i was camped right on shakedown last year, and the dust was horrific. to the point where our van was 100% covered and people were drawing murals on it with there fingers. we also thought we got super quick tans on friday, turned out to be dust.
friday at sunset the dust was like a thick fog.
by sat they mostly wetted down the "roads" "paths" whatever which just made everything really muddy, which was especially gross in front of the port o potties on shakedown. i mean i knew it was mud, but how could you tell.
We saw many o' cars covered, just covered in dust by the roads on shakkedown. That being said, depite having to turn my head for a second or two the dust never seemed to really bother me. It just seemed to accumulate fast and you can ask my legs and hair about that.

Thanks!
SImple solution, just hire someone to water the ground he walks on every step of the festival.
