the good thing is we will be caravanin up there, and i'm gonna let my father in law give it a once over before we leave (he was a mechanic for 25 years) and get a tune up. i think ill be ok
Do a complete fluid and filter change and you should be OK (oil & filter, transmission fluid & filter, coolant, fuel filter). Small block V8s can run pretty much forever if you don't beat on them excessively. I've had 2 with well over 200K miles on them. Transmissions usually die from heat or not changing the fluid. Adding a transmission cooler would help a bunch too (and not too expensive, $50 or so, and much cheaper than a replacement trans).

Pretty much anything thatd break. Engine, transmission, suspension, steering column. I assume you could swap out the front and rear end too, so brakes too. Pretty much all the mechanical parts were the same as the c/k trucks.
