My new ride to bonnaroo is a 1979 Chevy G Series Van, with four captains chairs, and a 400 small block.
;D THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! we're debating weither or not the van will be enough (Plus a shade tent and camping tents) or weither we need to bring my friends super pop up (The kind you have to plug in so it comes up).
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
I had a van in high school (set up for hauling my mx bike, had room to sleep and cruise though!)
I'm still sad my dad sold it when I went away to college. Some early 90's conversion van with 200k+ miles. it was loosing steam but damn, I loved it! We even had it painted.
sigh....
i wanted to keep the van so I could restore it in some way after college. My uncle being a vanner, I wanted to make plans for it and stuff, he knew peeps.
someday lol. But I'd totally love a Honda Element for my next car!

your gonna love it. i also bought a g series. mines a 94 though. 4 captains. bench that folds into bed in the back. perfect festie vehical!! i got it last october and have only take it to gory at the quarry. but boy was it needed in that weather! if the weather gets nasty you will have a full van. we had all sorts of trippy toys and over 600 glowsticks. we hooked them to the wipers and had them going full blast, flashers on. the van became a spaceship. in fact its nickname has become "the spaceship". vans are perfect for a party out of the weather. sucks on gas for regular use. but you can take so many people with you for long trips that sharing the cost of gas it costs me less. i recommend a van to everyone that enjoys camping. also i have a paranoia that some meth head is gonna freak out and drive over my tent at fests. sleeping in the van takes care of that for me.

we're gonna have a shade tent outside the van, but yeah most of the good stuff will be going on inside the van. i have a nisan pathfinder for my daily driver. it won't be "Ready" for this roo, but by 08. i plan on having 3 lcd screens in the back, 8 speakers, two subs, all kinds of goodies. i also wanna put shag down everywhere. but this year i'm gonna be lucky to get the center console fabricated (It still has an eight track in it) and putting in a cd changer. all in all it's gonna be great though. i've already bought a mini fridge for beer and liqour.
ya i have similar aspirations for mine. gonna have kids for many cross country trips so tv and video games are a must. speakers mounted to the back doors so they can swing open and provide tunes to the camp. getting a generator and a small rooftop ac unit. of course the shag ;D led kits. im pretty serious about turning it into a real spaceship ;D althgouhg i am thinking about selling it and upgrading to a vw van camper. the true hippie van!! also they have tents that actually connect to the back or side of vans. i might up the size of my ac unit and have a nice ac palace!

i saw a chevy with a removable roof that had a tent enclosure. it was sweeet. I should mount some speakers on a boom arm so i can angle them out the sliding bay door and then put some big woofers in the back door. By next year I'm going to have a sunroof in the back installed.

I'm putting about 1k of capacitors, bateries, heavy duty alternator, the whole nine yards.
but like i said, it wont be ready till 08. I also plan on getting four (4!) 360's and hook it up with wireless internet. By next summer they should have price droped.

i will definitely check it out man. i love vans. always looking for something cool i can add to my list of things i want to do to it. theres no better party then a van party!! if only they had bathrooms. id get an rv but only if i could put it in the normal campground. screw rv areas.

i'll end up using it for maybe one month worth of driving and that'll be with a carload of people in it. much better then say the people who drive a suburban to work everyday. speaking of rv's in the tents section, we actualy had an rv in the tents only place. how nuts was that?
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

sheyah gas is gonna be fuuun. but if i manage not to blow my money on crap this year, i'll have it ready to go for 08. It has the duel gas tanks so i plan on selling the 400 small block to my father in law and putting a diesel in it and doing the veggie oil diesel conversion on it. After i do that, i could sell my daily driver and drop more money into the van. I predict by the time we see bonnaroo 09, i will have a ride to rival most rv's. I'm even gonna check into getting a little tow behind 5th wheeler.
Bought a sweet ass, candy blue, full size chevy cargo van for a Jerry Fest here in Ohio a few years back. We spent so many hours on it, we carpeted it, replaced all the little things, painted, just generally got it ready to go.
Our hightlight was installing a "kegerator" in that bad boy! And man was it flowing sweet.
The fest came and we got the caravan ready, 4cars, about 15 guys. The van was shining, me and my dude were pumped. We took off for he 100 mile trip, as happy as two school boys. The keg was cold, the extras stowed away...gonna be beautiful that weekend. Friends, new tricked out van, warm weather.....ahhhh summer.
Well, kind people, we made it about 60 miles when we heard the first loud, clunk. It jarred the van a little. We pulled over, determined there's nothign noticably wrong and pressed on. Made it about 15 more miles before she gave out completely. Lucky the guys in the car in front of us saw us break down. They reversed it on the interstate, and we had no choice. Pack an entire van full of shit, and keg setup into an already packed full suv with 4 dudes in it. We started to just unload when a horrific thunderstorm came apon us. It was cold, wet, and the wind was kicking near 40 mph. We carried what we could and left the rest.
We took the plates off, and were gonna set it ablaze, a couple of the guys kicked holes in the paneling, one axed the dash right quick, general carnage on it. We drove off and I swear a tear rolled down my cheeck as i looked back at that beautiful blue beast. The dream was dead. No kegarator, no sleeping in the carpeted van.
Festival went on without much of a hitch, and a month later I got a call from the Highway patrol. They got the vin from the engine block, and I owed a gas station money for towing and storage. I never paid it. Told the tow guys to keep the fuckign thing. We were even.
That is my van story, I apologize for he rant, and wish you much better luck with yours man! Sincerly. Beautiful dreams do die though, be careful.
Similar story here... bought my 92 chevy van, gorgeous blue carpet and matching curtains, you know how it is...
We didnt even get to party in it before the transmission blew. Worked great when I bought it, and then died in the middle of an intersection on the way to the Salvation Army.
