I looked in the VIP thread and couldn't find a good description of the VIP bleachers as far as where they are located in conjunction with the stage. Does anyone know? Are these bleachers even worth going to?
I wouldn't want ot sit on the VIP bleaches at the What or the Which stage.
the What stage bleachers are way off to the side, but pretty close to the stage, but the Which stage bleachers are WWAAYY over there, I would be surprised if you couls even see the stage from where it is....
ya the bleacher for vipers suck. they hardly ever get used and just take up space. and like dmb said the second stage ones are wayy back. although it does provide some shade for napping under.
at gathering of the vibes they have a vip area that is just fenced off. its on the right hand side of the stage but goes about 1/4th of the way across the stage. i dont see it working with the numbers that roo has but it was nice. we set our chairs up along the vip fence and pretty much enjoyed aod, keller williams, and deep banana blackout front row! and the vip fence made for an easy way out and back in for beer runs and bathroom breaks. also there was a vip beer stand near the stage.
The one for the What stage would be the only one I'm interested in. My wife has waited 20 years for the Police, so she'd like to be fairly close without fighting for a spot.

View from the top of the Which stage bleachers.
The picture in my signature is from the What stage bleachers. So, no, they are not very "special" seats but the sound is a little better on the which stage bleachers being above the crowd rather than at the back of it on the ground. You can also catch an occasional breeze up there to cool down. But not a major perk in my opinion, but it's nice to have the option.
i'm so confused.... i thought that when you face the what stage, the bleachers are off to the right... cause i remember walking by them on the way back to the which stage.... my memory is all befuddled now.

think those are the handicapped accessible bleachers!
the best ones are at the which stage. they look far off in pictures, but they realistically aren't THAT far off. The sound is perfect, the view is great, and best of all, you have a seat, and don't have to sit on the ground where you can't see. It really is a perk when there are realistically no raised chairs anywhere on the property. They are great for shooting video and pictures. I got my best shots of the festival at bright eyes, brothers past, and magic numbers.
I never sat on the mainstage bleachers. I went up there to shoot video of Radiohead, but my camera died, so I walked back off. Those are over to the side quite a bit, but they aren't as far off as they appear to be in pictures. Mainly I don't sit on the bleachers, b/c I have a ton of friends who go to Bonnaroo, and not all can afford VIP, so I like to be on the ground to hang with them. Being able to sit and see for a show (especially in the early part of the day when you are dragging *ss from the night before) is the biggest perk of the bleachers. Maybe I'm getting old, but I just can't stand up for 16 hours a day anymore. It's not the best perk of the whole thing (that would be the camping), but it definitely has its advantages.
Having seen Tool 9 times in the last 10 years, I can honestly say that the last place I'd want to be is right on the side of the stage. The best seats in the house are further back, typically, and dead center.

We sat in the which stage bleachers for a little of Buddy Guy last year. At first we went up there just to say that we had taken advantage of the vip perk - but once we were up there it was a really nice break from being 'down in the crowd' and we stayed a song or two longer than we'd originally planned. We never made it to the main stage bleachers, but the folks we were camped next to watched Oysterhead from there, and they said the bleachers themselves were pretty toasty hot from the sun and they basically cooked while sitting there. Your mileage may vary.

No shade on either of the bleachers. The nice thing at the which stage is getting up out of the crowd and catching the occasional breeze to cool down. The sound is good up there too.
How crowded do these bleachers get? Say if i wanted to sit there and watch the police would I need to camp out all day or would I be able to squeeze my little a** on right before the show
The bleacers for the main stage face west so they just cook in the sun all day.Plus they're metal so its kind of like sitting in a giant skillit. The vip bleachers a not much of a perk.
The best part about the What stage bleachers is the vip tent below selling drinks, and the port a potties right around the corner. We've done VIP for the last three years, and they've been too crowded to find a seat a few times (usually not a problem though)... but you can always stand along the railing at the very least and it usually ebbs and flows like all crowds do. In the end, we usually pop up there every now and then but prefer the mood on the ground...
