I need to clear up some confusion about what exactly is an RV and do we need one of those RV passes. Our pick-up is a small Ford Ranger (not a full-sized pick-up), and the camper does NOT extend beyond the bed of the truck nor is it wider than the truck. We also have a state issued handicap placard so will be camping in the accessible camping area (which I've been told might be in the RV area). We ordered our tix this morning..but did not get an RV pass because we didn't think we needed one. I am attaching a photo of our camper so we can get an answer ASAP on this RV question. The screened tent is self-contained/removable (not part of the camper) and was placed where it is in the photo for convenience at Waka last summer.
I think a big reason the RV section exists is for vehicles that could get stuck should the weather be rainy and things get muddy. That doesn't appear to be a problem with this vehicle, and if you're in the accessible camping, that shouldn't be a factor.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

You only need an RV pass if whatever the total length of your vehicle (and trailer if applicable) is longer than a 16-passenger van - or so the rules said last year. you won't need an RV pass for your set up.

I noticed the "revised" guide today in the ticket section of the website.
"An RV is defined as any vehicle larger either in length, width or height than a normal sixteen (16) passenger van. All oversized vehicles, trailers, and campers that are towed and busses are considered RVs."
Although your set up appears taller than a 16 passenger van, I would guess that you'll still be ok without an RV pass. Kind of uncertain now though.

yea i wouldn't worry about the RV pass. honestly the ticket rippers and traffic directors are just doing it for a free ticket, they wouldn't say anything esp. with the handicap thing.
