Ok, we all know that you need to drink water to stay hydrated. We also know that many of us will be drinking alcohol. So my question is:
Can you drink whiskey&water (mixed together) and get the best of both worlds, in one drink? Or do you still need water separately to stay hydrated? Thanks -
I always drink whiskey and water, but separate (separate or mixed matters not.) I find this does help keep me hydrated. Of course if you're not used to whiskey, it is easy to drink too much too fast and ruin the whole day. I just keep a light buzz all day. Beer dehydrates me too much and makes for too many bathroom breaks.
It still helps to drink as much water as possible. A flask and a big bottle of water does me every time. No ice required either.
I'm pretty sure you need to drink it seperately, because otherwise it just becomes watered down whiskey, which will go through your bloodstream in the same was as plain booze.
1.) Why would you want to water down teh fab taste of whiskey? Anyway that is not here or there. You will need to drink watter in addition to the w&w. Due to alcohol being a diuretic, is causes faster processing of fluids throught the body, thus the water intake would need to be higher than the alcohol intake. To get that by mixing, is not worth the trouble.

with the whiskey & water you are probably mixing it in a 1:1 ratio at most. This is not nearly enough water for your body to stay hydrated. It might help a little, but drink a little extra water between each mixed drink and you'l be good to go.
forget mixing it, the ice will melt soon enough, and it is easier to monitor your water intake if you go by the bottle instead of remembering how many whiskys you had, I would say one small water bottle for every ounce of whisky, plus one more water bottle every hour. Your body will thank you.
Of course, you could always just be a real man like me and wake up with dry, cracked lips, a throat that feels like sandpaper, a puffy-feeling head and the taste of swampy death in your mouth.

Hilarious......I needed a laugh......karma for that.....
I'm sticking with my Captain (mixed with Coke, Sprite, whatever). Never had any dehydration issues in the past, and I'll have my Camelbak with me to sip on, just in case....

Yeah this is what usually ends up happening, despite all my planning. No matter how many times I say "I'm gonna drink a water in between every drink,"... well, it's easier said than done.

I thought they actually make water with alcohol in it?
Unless it's 200 proof, there's water in it.
Edit: Upon further review, I misread what you wrote. I haven't seen any "enhanced water" for sale that contains alcohol, only the vitamin and/or caffeine-added ones.

Your body is going to know when it needs water. When you feel off, drink water. Then back to beer. Honestly, in the hot sun you will WANT to drink more water. The night is another matter entirely.
