I want to take a camera to Bonnaroo, but I don't want a disposeable because I want to be able to look at/edit/delete pics. I have a feeling I'm gonna' be taking a lot of pictures and most of them will be throw aways.
I'd just like to know what you all have taken in the past and it would be great if someone could suggest a nice, small, cheap, digital.
They make cheap disposable digital cameras. Ive seen them for 20 bucks. They do all the things you want but are obviously disposable. I dont know the quality, but it gives you the option of looking/editing/ and deleting. Or are you looking for something permenant?
I would look for something used & cheap on Ebay in the $50 range. At the rate people trade up, you should be able to pick up a camera that was the shizzle two years ago and throw in a cheap memory card that you wouldn't miss too much if things went bad (water, theft, mud).
This was something I was thinking about doing. I thought of the pros: will have lasting memories when the memory starts to fade, will be able to show friends to convince them to come to the next years show, etc.... Then the cons: broken, stolen, lost, etc....
I'm thinking about not bringing my nice one, but instead getting a couple digital disposable ones. Still don't know yet, but I'm interested in seeing what other's plans on this are.
last year I brought my super heave Nikon which sucked because it was heavy and large. This year I'm bringing my little digital that's weather proof(It's also been dropped and stepped ona few times so, could be accident proof to?)
i'm taking my cannon SD450 digital elph. just got a 2G mem card. 2700 pics/ 17 hrs video! i paid $250 over a year ago so i'm sure it's much cheaper now. it's small, light and takes killer pics. i just wrap it in a bandana (padding) and keep it in a heavy duty ziplok for rain. i't has a wrist strap i use when i take it out. yes i dropped it...once. hence the strap. if it made it 10 days (7 raining) in the NY backcountry, it will make it at roo!
I had brought a couple disposable camera last year but rarley took pictures and never got the film developted. This year it is my digital all the way and I plan on keeping it safe. I need some photos this year. (that way my photo may end up on inforoo as well )
I agree with buying a used one......if you can get your hands on a used Casio Exilim EX-Z55 (the one I have), you will not be disappointed! I bought this thing 2 years ago, and there's nothing I would improve on it. It's smaller than a deck of cards, has 5.0 Megapixels (more than you'll ever need), and has a rechargeable built-in battery that will last through all of Roo on a single charge. Takes SD cards (the most common type. 1 gig SD cards can be had for $10 or less, now.
If you end up buying new though, don't fall for all that megapixel crap. Unless you're planning on making a highway-billboard blowup, you don't need any more than a few megapixels. Perhaps you can find a good closeout deal.......

i've got a cannon powershot which i'll be bringing but I think I might bring a disposable or two cause I like how candids come out on them. Plus, if you manage to get one that you know your friend will kill you for taking...they can't delete it
bringing my canon SD600. i purposely stick with the canon elph series cameras since they fit perfectly in my back pocket and they are consistentely rated as the best or one of the best in each class of compact digital cameras. once you figure out how to easily work the settings, you will not be disappointed in the quality of photos these bad boys take! like most people say, carry a ziploc in your backpack or cargo pocket and you'll be good to go!!

take any point-and-shoot digital you can find at a good price. I took my canon sd630 last year and was soooo glad. no problems with keeping it safe, just get a padded case and stick it in your pocket. the ziploc is a must.
a used one is a great idea. if you want a new one, try newegg.com
I just picked up a used Canon Powershot S410 ELPH 4.0 mp for 70 bucks on E-Bay, to serve as my Roo-cam. Should fit nicely into my backpack or pants pocket. Thanks for all the tips.
