I'm wondering what kind of lighting is available in-camp during the night hours of the festival. I have my trusty mag light, but I was thinking about rigging up some christmas lights to a deep-cycle boat battery or something.
are there flood lights throught the campsites? if so, i may not bother with my own lighting, but may go for it anyway.
No need for the flashlight. Last year we were in VIP and there was plenty of light coming from other areas. Also they have some of the construction type temporary lighting set up. I know a flash light will not be on my list this year.
Several people had Christmas/party lights around their area- it was a real help finding my way home late! Otherwise I don't think I ever used a light last year. Last year we rented an RV but will camp this year so I might bring a headlight for late night trips to the portapotties.

Yeah Vip area was well lit. It sucked for radiohead though, because while everything was dark there was that big obnoxious vip light shining from the left side.
Anyone care to expand on just how well lit the VIP camping area is? Where are the lights, are they on 24/7, etc.? I was hoping to put up some cool mood/party lighting around our campsite. Will the effect be lost? I'd like to have a good backdrop of darkness at night...don't want to have to break out the shades because of some floodlights .

From what I remember, it seems like the "main intersections" in the VIP and GA were well lit with large floods. We were camped on one of the main roads in VIP and we still had plenty of darkness for our Christmas lights. So -- go ahead and light up! It makes it nice for everyone.
You never know where you're gonna get stuck camping..Christmas lights are always a welcome site and make your camp bright and friendly. what do you have to lose? ;D
