Hi there, 2007 will be my first time going to bonnaroo and I'm trying to plan around some transportation issues.
I want to go to bonnaroo and stay all four days, but my family only has the one car and taking it away for that whole stretch of time isn't an appealing option.
So, crap. What is the likeliness that security would let a non-ticket holder drive with me to the campsite and drop me off there? Do they check your ticket before they even let you on the grounds?
If that doesn't work out I'm considering taking the airport shuttle. Could anyone who has used it before tell me what it's like? How much luggage do they let you bring with you? Have people brought tents and camping supplies with them on the plane/shuttle and how did that work out for you?
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."

To answer your question, no, they wouldn't let you get dropped off at your campsite. I've personally never taken the shuttle, but there are people on here (crazykittensmile) who have very good things to say about it.
Also, since you live in Nashville, I'm sure you could post for a ride and someone would be able to pick you up. I would, but I'm going VIP with a carload.

That's pretty much what I thought already, plus it would be kind of a bum deal for whoever I tricked into driving me up there in all that traffic (I'd have to do a lot of ass kissing and cookie baking to make it up to them) . Now all I'm worried about now is lugging around all that camping gear in a car that isn't mine, be it shuttle or otherwise. Any suggestions?
I might have a friend from California to help me out but his plans are really iffy at this point, so I'm really just trying to plan like he won't be there.
I'm taking the shuttle and plan on bringing some camping stuff....ie: big ass backpack, tent, small foamies, and a small cooler! I don't think I'll have any problems....the cost is $50.00 round-trip and they drop you off quite close to tent-only, bypassing all the traffic going in! Plus you'll meet some killer people on the ride ;D
The shuttle is very easy. There's a Bonnaroo table at the baggage claim and your get your wristband and welcome package right there in the airport. Shuttles leave about every hours and go into Roo the back way (no lines!), dropping you right by the tent -only area. Can't beat it.

Wait so you can't meet the shuttle outside the airport? Can they give you a wristband once you get to manchester?
no, but as far as i know you can enter the baggage claim without going through security or anything. just have someone drop you off near there and head in to get your wristband and your ticket for the return shuttle
This travel thing is going to be the death of me. I guess if all else fails I could always do the mile walk from the greyhound bus station Idk, I guess I'll just plan to look really hot that day, and flirt my way past security if I have any problems
Relax colorgirl, crazykitten is quite right. You don't have to be arriving by plane to use the shuttle, everything happens outside security. If you're dropped off at the airport by baggage claim you'll soon spot the Roosters waiting for the bus and the registration table is just inside. You'll be just fine. When you register they may ask for an arrival time, but that's only so they can estimate how many buses are required.
The shuttle doesn't stop anywhere between Nashville airport and Roo so getting wristbanded while you wait at the airport is a benefit, not a disadvantage.
EDIT: Also, there's no limit on the amount of crap you can bring with you. As 99% of shuttlers are coming by plane, they'll be limited so there's lots of room for your stuff. Drop-off is quite close to camping-only so if you can't carry it all at once, you may have to leave it at the roadside, but not for long. Idea - get a wheely cooler and pile it all on top of that.
Thanks for the help you guys. I'm so excited about going that I get all hysterical about the planning, which makes no sense whatsoever. I'll try and take some deep breaths and get more relaxed and into the 'roo state of mind
