I'm looking for a tent, but I don't know how to look! I've never been camping, so I have no idea about these things. I'm looking for a good 3-4 people tent, not more than $150. Any reccomendations?

I love campmor.com. They have great prices and hot deals. I got a good tent for $50 that regularly sells for $90. Check it out. Oh yeah...their shipping prices are amazing. I ordered 23 items from them that came in 3 separate boxes and was only charged $7 total shipping.

I can vouch for Campmor as well. They're just about a 1/2 hour drive from me here in NJ, so I'm a semi-regular there now that 'Roo Fever has taken me . They stock everything you'd ever need for camping, the quality of most of their gear is impeccable, and their prices are reasonable. If you do a little Ebay sharpshooting, you might get a better deal, but just barely.
A good website for getting up to speed with camping is
They also include a few tent and gear reviews, but I don't know if they keep them current or not.
Colemans is a good, reasonably priced brand of tents of all sizes. Eureka is good for lightweight backpacking on a budget. North Face is a good name, but can be pretty pricey; they really cater to the ultralight backpacking-up-Mt.-Everest crowd.
Oh, and if you need to know how to tie a guy line, just ask Oleander...
Whatever tent you buy, make sure you seal the seams and spray some waterproofing stuff on it. We camp all summer and actually have 3 different tents. We have made it thru some serious monsoon rains with a cheap wal mart tent because we waterproofed it well. We take the cheapo tent to festivals and places so that if it were to get ruined its okay cause we have the "good" ones at home.

^Waterproofing can make all the difference in the world. There is nothing worse than waking up during a rain storm because it's raining in your tent too. I always put a 10x10 QuikShade over the tent as an added barrier. Costco has a 10x20 portable garage structure(no tools required) with steel tubing and thick mil tarp roof and walls for $170. I'm seriously thinking about buying another one and using it this year in the VIP RV section but the only drawback is that it takes 2 men, roughly 2 hours to set it up and it's heavy as a beotch.
Just remember that in GA, if you have a larger sized tent, you need to scramble a little more to claim extra property once you're parked. Atleast that's what I always do.
what i'm gonna do this year (if we don't get the rv we might get) is, one decent size tent...doesn't matter where its from...but also will have two of those 10x10 canopys...we'll put up a canopy and then our tent directly underneath, double water protection...making sure our tent isn't too big...and then put the other canopy comin' from out out the door...hopefully this will help from water pools right outside the tent door...have like a little screened in porch attached to your tent. we had something of the sorts last year so...it.
edit: set it up in your back yard before you get there...too many times have i had a brand new tent and didn't know how too put it up...result...a terrible sunburn and two hours spent puttin up a tent...lol
"will have two of those 10x10 canopys...we'll put up a canopy and then our tent directly underneath, double water protection..."
Remember, not all of those 10 x 10s are waterproof. I have an EazyUp (and it ain't so EZ) and it is primarily a shade tent. It is not waterproof at all.
Anyone know if it can be waterproofed with the spray ons?
When you’re looking at tents, don't forget to look at the bottom. I like the tents that have a "bathtub" bottom. That’s where the heavy duty material at the bottom comes up the sides about 2-3 inches. It helps to route the water around your tent. All the protection on the top isn't gonna keep your stuff dry if you have a mini river running through it.
