So how much space do you get in the Handicapped area? I broke my Scaphoid bone in my right hand/wrist 2 weeks ago in after someone cut me off on my motorcycle. I had a full arm cast that the hostpital said I would need on for 12 weeks. I could not take the cast after a week and cut it off after I ordered a removable plasticast online for that bone break. I saw a orthopedic surgeon and he said I should be fine with that insted, but to not use that hand at all. If that bone dies from lack of blood I could loose the use of it, I am right handed and I draw for a living. I go back to see him next week to see if it is starting to heal or if I will need pins to be drilled in to hold it together. I am sure I can get a temp permit from him if I told him I may be lugging camping stuff. The thing is I do not think I could carry stuff if I was out in BFE. Do you guys think I should do the handicapped area? or is it for just people that cant walk?
It's more for the mobility disabled then anything else - if you end up in BFE - the walk is not going to affect your arm
I'll be in Access. we have a camper and 3 or 4 of us...I'm in the process of nerve damage or ligament damage in my hip and thight but we are still gonna party down, I just may be a bit slower..lol

I hear you there I have nerve damage on my right hip and leg myself, from a dirtbike accident last year, then landed on it again in my last motorcycle wipe out. been riding my whole like but just had a bad two years I guess. I am just hoping I don't need to get pins in my hand before roo, I already have rods in my ankle from last years spill.
I think I did this in a 4 wheeler wreck 6 weeks back.broke some ribs. but bout the time they healed, this started acting up, can't walk wort a damn and got an mri scheduled...I should know some of the dignosis the week of Roo. I hope it doesnt screw it up for me
the boy's doctor wouldn't give him a handicapped placard for his torn acl (on which he's having surgery after returning from bonnaroo). he said they don't even give them out post-surgery. i'm really hoping we don't get stuck out in bfe for his sake. i'm able-bodied but he has trouble walking long distances right now. i thought it was a little bizarre they wouldn't give a temporary one out, seems weird to me. i guess we'll just have to hope we get close up and bring crutches in case we don't. :\
I'll be in access RV with 2 cancer patients. One suffers fatigue following a transplant and one has really bad lungs, so we didn't feel bad about getting a temp tag. In DC, where we live, you don't need a doctor's approval to do a short term tag - just fill out the dates you want and submit. Only longer-term tags need doctor approval. Other states don't have this option I guess?
If anyone else will be in the RV part, we'll probably hear me crying as I attempt to make the RV work. I've never stayed in one before, so it should be interesting. I'm so excited, though. Just over 1 week!!!

hehe - look for the Camp Custie sign and banner - that will be us - we really don't know what we are doing either - but maybe we can help each other if needed

Why are you guys calling yourselves camp custie? That would be kinda like being in camp lame squad.

It's a long story - but it mainly has to do with someone on Inforoo that decided to stalk me on my blog and make nasty comments about Bonnaroo pictures last year and continually call Boz and I custie posers who know nothing about music festivals and should just stay at home and tend to our children instead of galavanting around the country going to a music festival. of coursem the fact that we only go to Bonnaroo apparently has not sunk into my stalker - who tends to attend several festivals even though she has children and thinks that all festivals are more for the party then the music.
(at least that is my thought if I am right about who my stalker is)
So - CAMP CUSTIE it is - and it is turning out to be a blast buying stuff for camp and we are having fun with it.

Hmmm thats kinda crazy. Pretty much why I dont put pictures of myself up. As strange as it sounds I am not all that hip to meeting people in the real world that I know from the net. I do have a few very good friends I have met that way but it still weirds me out.
I hear ya - my blog is in a good place though and - truthfully - this is the only problem I have ever had. Now - when comments are posted on my blog - I just delete them - it's actually sorta flattering that someone would go to such lengths. Kinda creepy also.
Quick question for those who were in GA access camping before: are there trailer potties? or just porta-potties? Looks like my RV isn't happening, so I'm debating about a last minute camp shower and/or camp toilet.
Access oh-10 woooo! Well assuming I can get a permit, but I'm pretty sure I can, I've got all sorts of problems Questionablesanity will possibly be using my 'friend' pass so if you want to meet a couple dashing dudes, you know where to find us! haha
Last year I met twohills here and hooked up with her and her injured boyfriend. It was wonderful and we were able to help him out. (needed ACL surgery and doc wouldn't write him a temporary pass).

Damn, How exactly do you dislocate your pelvis? I've been an xray tech for 10 years and I've never seen anything like that. What did it dislocate from? I'm very interested.

The only other year we did Access, they (the nice police blocking it) wouldn't let us in at the exit the Info Guide says. They made us go in the back way, wait in line, and when we finally got up there, made us leave there and go in the front entrance where we told the nice police officers we needed to go the first time.
^^^ Nenna are you talking about the exit off the highway or the access to Centeroo? When we arrived off the highway there was no one at the tollbooth, no clue about access stuff, etc. Once we got to the pod they filled us in.
I already posted this on another thread, but as this is the 'official' Access thread, here it is again:
In case anyone else was wondering about the Wednesday night arrival if you are camping in Access, here's my official response:
"The official opening is early Thursday but when they are able, they open early to alleviate crowding on the highway. When they open, the Accessible Camping area opens as well. You will be directed to Accessible Camping as soon as the gates open. Make sure that you have the state-issued accessible parking tag."
