my friend and i are first time rooers and we were wondering if it was hard to find your tent. 100,00 people is a lot of people. i remember reading somewhere on hear about a guy who couldnt find his tent asking people if they knew him or if they knew where he camped. are there like street names for camping? zones? sectors? ??? we plan on taking full advantage of every bonnaroo opportunity, but we dont want to get "lost". and our tent is our everything.
the camp sites have names and there are "streets" with names. I find it most helpful to remember the general route to your campsite and figure out a few landmarks near your tent (a lot of people set up flags to mark their campsite, which i guess you could do too).

my friend and i were also wondering if camping is available the night of the 13th? we live in FL so the drive would be terrible going to the roo of the 14th. wed be dead by the time we got there.

Yes, you are allowed to come in on Wednesday night, but you may be put in BFE (far away from Centeroo). I've never been to Bonnaroo, but that's what I have read so far. If there is someone else who knows something different about this, please correct me.
They have these giant light-up balloon things so just remember at some point which one you're under, then just try and remember what landmarks (like bright-colored tents, flags, etc) are close to your tent. We were close to the fence last year, so it was relatively easy where we were.
it's also a good idea to bring a large flag that you can hoist near your campground. we did that last year and it came in handy on more than one occasion. Just be smart and get a good lay of the land immediately after you arrive and set up camp....before heading into Centeroo.
You NEED to have a camp marker. Lots of people bring balloons, flags, glow sticks, etc. There is nothing worse than trying to find your tent at three in the morning with a head full of strange substances. I was lost for an hour last year just wandering in circles around my camp, and my friend ended up sleeping out in front of the crazy church. This year we are making our own flag and building our own flagpole for certain. You wont regret it.
^^ I agree. I've never had a problem finding my campsite, and have never used a marker or balloon. Vendors, other people's crazy looking campsites and vehicles, etc. all make for excellent "landmarks" for finding your way back. No one does much moving around after everyone's settled.

In addition to simple landmarks (ie - vendors, neighboring tents, the guy passed out from too many substances that you walked by on the way to Centeroo), last year Bonnaroo had multiple flying lit baloons with numbers every 100 yards or so. Imagine one of those HUGE shopping-mall parking lots you occasionally find that have letters or numbers on light poles to help the shoppers find their cars. It really isn't that hard to remember your spot, as long as you are with friends who can help or semi-concious of your surroundings.

Actually I read on the roo site that they specifically said they'll turn folks away who show up wed night
"The parking lot and campground will open at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday June 14, 2007. The parking lot and campground will close at 3:00 p.m. on Monday June 18, 2007. Please do not come early -- you will be turned away! " its on this page www.bonnaroo.com/2007-campground-opening-closing-times

But take it from people who have been before and from some Manchester locals - they will open the gates at some point on Wednesday night - we got there Wednesday last year - went to Walmart and were told by the cops around 11 that night that the gates were open - we went - got in - got set up and sat amazed that we were at Bonnaroo. (we did end up in BFE and it really is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be)

You will get a map as soon as you enter. Find someone who KNOWS where you are on the map and mark it. Take it (and the your trusty schedule) with you when you venture out.
We were lost for about an hour our 2nd time due to the fact we set up after dark and heard someone say which campground we were in and it turned out to be TOTALLY wrong.

You just got to pay attention before you drink-up, light-up and head-out for the first time. Bonnaroo people are colorful and distinct, if you pay attention. Don't be stupid and you'll have no problem.

A 5 ft diameter balloon with a 100 ft multi colored lanyard makes your campsite pretty easy to spot. This is what I used last year from Camp Rocky Balboa.

I have to disagree, unless you don't to spend any time at your campsite BFE sucks. I was there in 2005 and it hurt my whole weekend having to walk like 40 min in that heat. Last year we were a 5 min walk from centeroo and it made the weekend so much better and I was abe to sit on top my car and watch the mainstage pretty clearly.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
One thing I don't get about the balloons is how people fill them up? They float so I guess they must be helium. But it seems like if you try to go through security with a helium tank it may be confused for another more notorious gas. Can anyone enlighten me?
