i was there last year but im not sure what shakedown is? i thought it was where the venders are but the thread on shakedown makes me think i missed out on something much wilder.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
if theres not music going on im probably wandering shakedown meeting crazies.
don't you love that? i love trying to communicate with the shakedowners...never have i had more fun having a totally unintelligible conversation that means absolutely nothing.

"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
I don't know how well you know your history. But Shakedwon Street is much similiar to those Bazaars they used to have in the downtown area of a castles city back in the midevil ages. You know where they had all kinds of shops setup along a street where they sold various items like food and clothes and other necesseties and then there were always the sketchy hooded guys who would hang out on the street in the shadows and lurk around selling you there goods that the King didn't approve of. They'd come out of nowhere and whisper something like "I've got a secret potion that will help you to see your future for 3 gold medallions." Then there's almost always the beggars hangin around "Please sir, may I have another!". But be aware the King always has his mounted security scouting around looking for those guys selling illegal potions and magic! Yes, that's pretty much how Shakedown Street is, except for filled with hippies and wooks in a modern day setting. Hope that helps!
