this will be my first Roo... How much REALLY does it matter where you camp? I mean, will it ruin your time if you're really far from Centeroo? This thread is scaring me!!
ROo is Roo, so youre pretty much guarnateed to have a goo time no matter where you camp (i cant speak from experience but campign far away honestly doesnt sound that msierable to me) unless Bonnaroo isnt your sorta thing and if you like music, large parties and mud then bonnaroo is your sort athing

The walk to Centeroo can be pretty rough. Depending on how far out you're "placed", you may end up spending all day/every day in Centeroo. That's not all that bad though. If you spend 12+ hours in Centeroo, you are definitely getting your money's worth! You're going to have a great time and discover some bands that you might not otherwise! If you need a break, you can always grab a nap there, or head over to the Inforoo camp to chill for a while. The only real big down-side to spending all day in Centeroo is that you will end-up spending more cash on food and water. Regardless, worrying about it will just spoil the build-up. Where you camp is as random as anything possibly could be. No matter where you end-up, you are going to have the time of your life!

Yeah, figuring out that there's free running water was one of my greatest discoveries at Roo. Why pay ridiculous prices for bottled water? I know tap water tastes different, but the water at Bonnaroo really isn't bad. If you think it is, you should taste some of the tap water in Florida.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

Last year I was camped over an hour from centeroo. It wasn't bad at all. The walk was long, but there was so much to see on our journey. This year I'll be staying at tent-only so that I can spend more time in centerroo, but if you don't want to hump your gear, BFE is just as fun.

im pretty sure no matter when you come in at the make shift exit entrance they open just for ROo that you will get placed fairly clsoe to centeroo. it wouldnt make sense for them to have people go through that entrance and make then drive all the wy across the campgrounds.
It wouldn't make much sense, but we came that way at 9AM Thursday last year, and BFE for us!
according to the map, last year we were way out in the 80's (austin powers area). i've said it before and i'll say it again - i love camping in bfe!! yes, i said it!
it really is pretty peaceful out there, and i actually find the 30 minute walk very invigorating. sure, we stayed at centeroo most of the day, but we had so much fun! it was so much easier to sleep out there, the trees around us were awesome, and nobody wants to trek all the way out there to steal your stuff. and on top of all this, you get to see a lot more than others who camp closer to centeroo.
i plan on leaving here around 12 or 12:30pm thursday, and arrive at bonnaroo around 4 or 4:30. this worked for us last year, and i'm hoping we'll get "stuck" out there again this year if all goes well!

I agree, I may look forward to the walk more than anything first thing in the morning, I definitely make my way through tent city because you never know what kind of goodies you will find.. Your guaranteed to go by at least 50 food vendors, and the real deal food vendors the folks that aren't hired to be there, and meet all kinds of cool people... The only part that I dont like and still dont mind, is the walk back late at night after partying and walking all day.. but usually after all that partying I am in a good "exploring state" and still like the walk. ;D
At this point, who the hell are any of us kidding?
I don't give a flying dookie where they put me, it's 20 days until Bonnaroo and I'm just ready to get there. I hope I get put in Camp P*ssy Galore again, so I can enjoy my BFE solitude (and the shade of the forest).
Hell, for that matter I hope I get put in Camp Emperor, and I'm right there.

I don't even care!!!
I'm ready to get there!!! Who's with me?
I am like you - if I am in BFE - I want Camp P u ssy Galore - where I was last year - or I would take a spot up close - I just wanna get there

"got there late afternoon on thursday last year. all the digital signs were directing traffic to get off early and (i assume) take the road that takes you to bfe(bushy branch?).....as everyone was exiting in front of me, i blew right by with the rest of the local traffic and a couple of miles down, i see cars pulled over on the shoulder lane going into the temporary roo exit. i hopped in line there thinking i could be there for a while, but i was searched and parked within 45 minutes and a just 5 min walk to centeroo.
i will be using this method once again this year."
Ok, I would like to follow your advice. How much farther is the temp. roo exit?

oh l.o.l. So what is the main entrance called? I guess I am just confused because this is what it says at Bonnaroo's site:
If you are coming from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, all other states in the northeast including Maryland and Pennsylvania, or other locations east of the site: 1. Use I -75 or I -59 to Chattanooga 2. From Chattanooga take I-24 west to the new Exit (112) directly into the site.
We showed up EARLY Thursday morning last year and ended up getting totally screwed on our spot....35 minute walk to Centeroo. Thank you guys so much for your advice, I know there is at least some randomness to it but I'm very excited about our spot this year...
I know that getting put in campsites at Roo is a total crapshoot. But is it more than likely I will get a decent spot from where I am coming from?
I am coming from Woodstock, Ga (2 1/2 hrs from Roo) and I will probably be leaving around 5-6 am on Thursday. I will probably get there around 8-9 am. I will also be coming into Roo from the I-24 exit(which was the exit called the most ideal to come into).
Knowing this, what are my chances of getting a decent spot? Decent for me is no longer than a 20 min. walk.
