I might skip Thursday because of another commitment. I could arrive as early as 3 or 4 a.m. on Friday. Will I be able to do such a thing? That is, will they let me come in and set up camp if I arrive when most people are sleeping?
I plan to camp in tent-only. Do I still have a reasonable chance of getting space there if I arrive on Friday? (I'm guessing my chances will decrease as the day goes on.)
Thanks for any info you can provide. I did some searching but couldn't find my specific questions answered elsewhere.

I will be there around 12:00 or 1:00 Thur, I think Teine will be with me and I dont know if Jay will be there by then. We are going to try to save as much space as possible for the Inforoo Camp.
When do they start letting people set up in tent-only?
People are starting to back out on me, and it's looking more and more like I'll be going solo this year. I decided that if that's the case, I'll probably camp in tent-only.

You can set up in tent only as soon as they officially open the gates at 9 or 10 am Thursday. As soon as you get parked, grab your stuff and head over right away. However, if you come in super early, i.e. late Wednesday night before the gates are officially open, they will park you in BFE and you won't be allowed to move over to tent only until the gates are officially open.
and I think there is a lot of tent-only promoting around this board, which is resulting in tent only actually filling up. The key to a little-known secret is to keep it little-known.
If my buddies and I were to arrive Thursday night, Camp very lightly that night by our vehicle. then in the morning pack everything and sit out by the tent only area before it opens, would that be allowed? i understand the gates wont open till 9 or 10. but if we arrived by 8, would they turn us away?

I think it would be ok. and just to be clear so you don't miss out.....you would do that Wednesday night, not Thursday.

Yeah the official opening time is Thursday around 10AM.
You wanna do that WEDNESDAY night, and then hurry over on Thursday morning.

This year's info .pdf is listing 7am as the opening time for the campgrounds and parking lots.
"The parking lot and campground will open at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday June 14, 2007. The parking lot and campground will close at 3:00 p.m. on Monday June 18, 2007. Please do not come early -- you will be turned away!"
That was where I figured it would be, since it's the biggest tent-only campground...I guess I'll find it by the flag if I need to. Pretty good spot, especially if it were on the right side (on the map) of the area...not right on shakedown (noisy), but close.
The real selling point is the proximity to the grilled cheese stand.

I think Camp Inforoo should be over by Centeroo, as this is where most things happen. What does everyone think?
shooter mcgavin was perfect! it's all pretty darn close to centeroo, but the closer you get to the entrance the less spread out it is. i remember it was was VERY packed over on that end, compared to shooter mcgavin (the inforoo camp area). i think people would be more likely to take issue with the large inforoo camp and people reserving space for late arriving board members and such, if it were on that end of things.

That's what I want to do (but on Wednesday night).
BUT ... I want to get back into my car and get in line so I can get a closer parking spot.
Would they let me do that? Or is it once you park your car there's no moving?
Another question. If I can't move my car and end up hiking everything over to tent only on foot, could I go early in the morning and beat all the folks who are entering with their car?
Do they let you line up without a car? I guess I'm confused about the logistics of once I'm in the park that they have another place to line up???
I do not like the idea of waiting 5 hours in line with my car to get into the park no matter when I arrive. So if I have to park and camp Wed. night in BFE, I will do that to avoid the hours long wait to get in.
I do not want to stay up all night in the Wal mart parking lot either.

We moved our car in 04 from way in the back to right behind tent only camping. We were lucky though. Usually, you are packed in pretty tight.
Yes, you can go early in the morning as soon as they open tent only and set up.
I don't think I would leave the grounds, get back in the line to get another place, if that's what you are saying. One wait in line is enough.

When you get there, you will file into line with everyone else. The line will probably be well outside the Bonnaroo area. You will follow this line of cars ALL THE WAY INTO ROO and ALL THE WAY TO WHERE YOU WILL BE PARKED. They will park you, you do not get to choose where you park. You may get park 2 mintues for centeroo, you may get parked an hour from centeroo, this is not up to you.
Once you are parked, you either camp right beside your car, or you carry your stuff to tent only and camp there. More than likely, you wont be able to move your car once it is in. Maybe, but probably not!
yep listen to the mod, things are pretty much just like he said with not a lot of lei way .... it is all worth it in the end, but you do have to work a little to make the weekend happen ... it took us hours to get in and we did not even consider leaving once we were inside ... you figure a couple of hours minimum to get in and a couple of hours to get out, you will spend half a day running into town for some dumb burger or something ... just pack what you need, and consider the roo your home for about 5 days ... see you there ... cr****
Some info for the tent-onlies. Last year the held back the people coming from BFE until BFE was full. I think they said you couldn't get out of there until noon. There was a big ole crowd waiting and they just kept them in. (It was tough to drive through it)
By the way, I wrote to Bonnaroo with my question, ages ago, and I just got an official answer....
"Thanks for your interest in the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. You will not have any trouble at all. You can come in whenever you can and set your tent up whenever you are ready."
