I figured there should be a page for all our our own personal camp recipes, ya know like a hot dog bun packed with cold cuts and cheese, wrapped in aluminum foil and placed on top of a car. 15 minutes in the Tennesee heat, and you've got some mighty fine hobo cuisine. Share yours.

Don’t know if this counts for crude food, but during the energy/gas crisis in LA we used to put our lunch on the manifolds of our cars and then as we drove to work, it would cook and be ready to eat at lunch .. It worked surprisingly well if you wrapped the food well enough in aluminum foil …. Fish was especially good lol … the only thing, if you didn’t fasten it down well, you might open your hood and have spaghetti all over your engine … those were sucky times … we were allowed to have 10 gallons of gas every 3 days (went by your car tags) and you had to sit in line about 4 hours to boot, just to buy it … electricity was monitored by they took what you used in a given month from the year before, subtracted 10 percent (I think) and if you used more then that, they would double your bill … they also said if you went over your limit the next month, they would shut it off … it only lasted a few months, so I don’t know anyone that actually happened too …. grrrrr …. Cr*****

ok, this is not really the best roo recipe because it requires a microwave, but for those with RVs it's an awesome quick snack. Also good for anyone at home. It's called a 'Rito Burger and you should all feel honored that i'm sharing this secret recipe. It's great for broke people, lazy people, and vegetarians. Not a veg, but i'm broke and lazy.
Ingredients: One standard hamburger bun One or two slices of cheese, depending on your taste smokin' barbecue doritos dill pickle slices (the kind made for burgers) ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, peppers, whatever else you might put on your burger
directions: place the bun on a paper plate, with the cheese in the middle of the bun. microwave on high for approximately 10-15 seconds, or until cheese is melted. Remove from microwave and quickly seperate the buns, which should both be cheesy at this point. Crumble a handful of doritos onto your bun. Add topings and condiments. Put top bun back on. Enjoy! Repeat often
There's a book called Manifold Destiny that gives recipes for cooking on the engine. I made some nice chicken once between Arlington, Virginia, and Roanoke, Virginia. Very tender.
Hmmm...I might grab a couple burritos and stuff 'em in there on the way from Kentucky (if I end up taking that route) so I can have a hot meal upon arrival!

if your bringing a grill and planning on cookin up some dogs, burgers, sausage or whatever you got, bring some potatoes (which are the best camp food in my opinion) and throw it all in some tin foil, stick in on the grill until whatever takes the longest to cook is done...that's a mighty good meal right there. down side is, you'll be takin a nap shortly after. but it does taste good...and get's rid of leftovers.

chocolates....
you bring some hershey bars, nuts, raisons, whatever you like i guess... put in a pan of sorts and leave on your dash with closed doors for a few minutes til it melts... then just add your favorite secret ingrediant and pour into cupcake holders... place in your cooler for a few mins til they harden back up again...
