There is a thread around here somewhere where this is discussed extensively and I think the final realization is that it is too humid for it to really be effective

We have an air conditioned rv, but I remember at night, I always had to turn it to fan only because the temp would drop big time. Even the really hot days, the night time temps were really chilly. This coming from a Minnesotan. We know chilly. I don't think a tent air conditioner is needed. A fan and a deep cycle battery to run it should be good.

You are my hero......and you pay attention !!!!
LOL - I only try to pay attention - because at first it sounded like a really good idea - but figured that other people were wise and I took their advice - no sense throwing money away on something that is not really gonna work anyway
This will be my first roo - a couple of questions - I hear a lot about a/c and rv's - are they worth the price - I am pretty used to a tent - is there a lot of chill time in camp during the day. Also - what's the deal with the VIP tickets - is it much better?

The only "chill" time you might find at 'roo will be in the wee hours of the morning.
What I mean is - it is HOT - HOT - HOT from the time the sun comes up until it goes down but it is cold in the wee hours of the morning.
The reason people talk a/c and RV is to try to get a few more hours of sleep after the sun comes up because your tent will feel like an oven
JustMeg, you are absolutely correct! Once that sun breaks, good luck getting any sleep. I remember we had a very very late night and as soon as that sun got out there, i was up. Way way too hot.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I can buy it locally, then hook up my fan and time it. I figure I only need 20 hours out of the fan and it draws roughly 1.1 amps ... so I should theoretically be able to get 24+ hours out of that battery with my fan on the lowest settings. That's 6 hours a day, which will give me plenty of extra sleep.
To the OP: That cooler fan contraption is a waste of money for 'roo.

Last year I actually got so used to the heat that when we left I didn't want to turn on the A/C because I froze. Guess thats what you get living in Mississippi. Our summers are just as hot and pretty much 10 months outta the year
