Question! I hope I don't take this thread off topic buuut...
How big are your guys tents? I have a 15x15 shade tent and someone is willing to give me their 10x16 tent for free. I'm scared that it's too big! I don't want to take up other peoples space.
Anybody have any opinions on this one? I was planning on spraying and seam-sealing it. They guarantee no leaks, but does that really mean anything? ???
I went to Dick's Sportinggoods tonight and got this tent.... tinyurl.com/2oqxzm It was on sale for 39.99 (it's a 9'x7') They had a 10X8 one that was taller on sale for 49.99.

That is almost the exact same tent that I bought, except for the way the rain fly sticks out over the entrance.
If you get a chance to set it up/try it out soon (which I won't), let me know what you think about it!
Good luck with those coleman tents, hope it doesnt rain too much. My gf and I bought a nice tent and have seen some unfortunate situations with our neighbors using cheaper tents. MY favorite was the tent that allowed water in, but the bathtub floor didnt allow any water out.

we bought seam sealer - gotta get the tent set up and seal it and spray it - also have to check the air mattress - find the leak and repair it (we figured - cheaper to repair then to replace)

what's wrong with coleman tents?
Nothing. My favorite tent was one very similar to yours. It was a crescent rim 9x9 coleman. Great tent. I was able to open the windows halfway while it was raining and no rain got in. I was very comfortable.

I've found Coleman to be a decent brand, but you MUST seal the seams in them(this goes for any tent)
Its the ozark trail tents to watch out for
Umm, Is sealing the seams hard worK? Do I just spray something on it like Scotchguard? Can I do it when I'm there and my tent is up or must I do it ahead of time?
Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm wondering why a manufacturer would make a tent thet was not waterproof or water resistant.
Someone other than I may have a better suggestion for this, I always buy seam sealer from REI or Dicks sporting goods and apply a few weeks before a fest. The one I use you just have to paint the seams with it and allow them to dry.
Do it BEFORE roo, you may arrive when it is raining!
There are paints and sprays. Seams are the main leak point so concentrate there. Sprays also allow you to lightly waterproof the whole tent, just in case.
Waterprofing wears off so doing it at the factory may not last. My tent came with a small amount of waterproofing paint to apply.
I make sure my tent in under cover of a tarp or canopy, when I use it. That's the best waterproofing of all.
This is the one Im thinking about getting. It got good reviews. Maybe too small for what you want. Does anyone have this tent or can offer some insight?
