I have pretty long hair...and the thought of cutting it EEKKKS me... but also i am very tempted to buzzz it in lo' of the TN heat .....curious if anyone w/ more experience at Bonnaroo (yes sadly im a virgin) has some thoughts... my other option would be dread it out!! (which could be tight) ~Thanks All Who Respond

Oh my hair is going to be cut as short as is girly possible before roo... I'm already sick of dealing with this crap in the georgia heat But if you like your long hair there is always the good old pony tail ... I dunno bout dreads but it seems like it would just make your head hotter and a buzz would probably leave your scalp open for sun burn... thus you would have to wear a hat... and thats hot too... basically its all a catch 22... I'ts the south your going to be hot I just figure nothing can be worse than GA so I'm set

I always break-out the clippers a couple of weeks before Roo. (#1 guard) Once I get there, I always wear a big-floppy hat during the day. I'm very pale and it's (usually) very bright.

how long is your hair? you could probably rock the tiny braids. i donated my hair to locks of love before the last roo... cut about 16 inches off. it made hairstyles a breeeeze. and my hair's back to about shoulder length for this year's roo. but mick's right.. scalp burn is pretty sick. i got it last yr.
bandanas are also nice and multifunctional. they can hold your dirty hair back, protect your scalp from the sun, and look pretty rad all at once.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
Getting a haircut in a few, so my hair will be the same length it was last year, which is the shortest it's been in years... I had a dream the other night that I shaved my head while performing for something on stage... I'm thinking about going buzz...

Pretty much sums it up. I dont plan on cutting my hair till after Roo and noting helps like a bandana...especially the holding the dirty hair. short hair or not, it will be dirty
I intentionally let my hair grow out for this years 'roo. At this point, cutting it before the fest would seem almost blasphemous. Long hair protects you from getting the dreaded festival neck burn.
ponytail, braid(s), buns, clips, hats, bandanas, dreads, etc... I'll try anything to get it off of my neck, but realistically if I make it to sundown I'll be fine.
I had long hair the last couple of years, I have had it buzzed pretty short lately, and will probably get it buzzed one more time pretty soon, so it grows out enough to avoid a sunburn on my head, those suck, its like having painful dandruff.

you're going to be pleasantly surprised! it's not even as hot in manchester as it is here in memphis - the humidity is so much worse here - and i know it's even more humid in georgia! you can always find relief in the shade, and guess what - it's actually sorta chilly at night!

noone will see my hair starting from the airport thursday (yay!) til monday when i get back into the city because the entire time it will be up in a bandana. ;D
I had reallllly long hair last year, I tried to wear it down then in a ponytail last year and that lasted about a day and half before it was a huge rat's nest mess full of dust... so I went to the reliable two braids like the year before.... looking like pippi longstocking is worth it to not have to deal with my hair dreading for 4 days

i say ponytails, bandanas and the such, or the buzzcut... dreadlocks are wonderful!, but if you're specifically looking to avoid heat with your new do, its probably not the right move... would be kind of like pulling a fuzzy warm hat over your head, at least that's how mine used to feel *tear*

I used to have a good amount of hair but yesterday as I was driving around town in 80 degree weather I noticed how hot it was outside. Then I thought "if it's 80 degrees at Roo it'll be one of the coldest Roo's I've heard of... This is gonna be awful" Then, as I crested a hill there was a barber shop with a Rooster in the front of the building. I took this as a hint, and got almost all my hair cut off. Haven't regretted the decision too much yet...

I have shoulder-length hair, too. I'm one of those people that NEEDS to wash her hair everyday... even if the rest of me is stinky. It's all about the hair, right? But I'm going to do my best to not be a hair nazi and just go with the flow. I'm bringing multiple hats, ponytail holders and bandanas. I'm kinda looking forward to not having to be 'all done up' everyday. It'll be like a little hair vacation! Maybe I'll get closer to my primal nature and just let it all go wild. Why not?!
