Actually, the one wooz sugest is a good one. If you can get something simular to that style you should be good. I have one like that and it was a life saver. The brim will cover your face and your neck during the peak hours of the blistering sun. If suggest you find one with snaps on the side, then you can put the brim up when ever you want.

Outdoor Research Nimbus Sombrero folds up nice, great shade, good breathability, can hang around your neck, or flip up the sides for the 'Roo Ranger look: tinyurl.com/29q9om
[edit] What about the old stand-by.... a straw cowboy hat?
I absolutely love the one I posted.. its really comfortable and breatheable, and the sweatband inside is crucial. Plus you can fold it up and stick it in a cargo pocket or hang it around your neck.
Personally I wouldn't spend more than $30 on one, there is always the chance you'll lose it

Hey, turn that red neck tan... and wear something that doesn't look like it is meant to go with a fanny pack (unless of course you are wearing a fanny pack to the Roo).
You will get extra karma for your effort. My 15 year old may kill me (she's coming with me) but I might just go with the Devo and use lots of sunscreen. She would be super embarrased to be seen with me. PS She went super goth for a while and died her hair purple. This may be the payback.
This what I am wearing.. with eyelets and a chin strap. These things are light weight, indestructable and are reshapeable when wet.. turn it into a big fedora, or stay cowboy style.
Be sure to check the sizing info here (you need about 1 size greater than normal, I did it and it works great.)
