I am coming to Roo with a few friends and we are bringing the pop up camper this year. I am wondering if they search the pop up camper. Or will they just search our car. Does any one have any expirences with this? What did they do when you went in with your pop up camper? All info will be greatly appreciated.
When you say go all out. Do you mean they might make me pop up my camper so they can search all in the inside of it? Has anyone ever seen them make some one pop up there camper to search it?
ok i have a question its not about a pop up camper but do u think they are going to go all out and unclip panels like for stereos and anything that clan clip on and off on a car.. Just wondering..

by all out they mean that occasionally people get K9s sniffing their cars, all their shit thrown about by the dea.
last 2 years for us, they just made us open our glove box, console, and they looked in teh trunk at the inside of the cooler for glass (which they didn't find under the frozen bottles + ice)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I think as long as you don't "pre-game" too hard you'll be alright. I didn't get searched at all last year when we got to the gates thursday morn. the year before that we were searched quickly with a once over and a few questions, (we had two cases of glass bottle beer, and they didn't even notice) the only peeps I remember getting heartily searched where the dudes in front of our car two years ago, and they couldn't hardly even stand on their feet when they got out,,,, my advice, do whatcha gotta do, and wait till ya get in to roo to get wasted an you'll be fine.

Just to specify for anyone reading this.
I personally have never heard anything even close to this happening at Roo. I would be a little bit more careful on the roads and highways surrounding the festival site, but no worries really at the gate. Last year we had our party favors taped inside the trunk liner, and they didnt even get close with our trunk packed out in the fashion it was.
As far as getting nailed by bonnaroo employees at the gate or in the festival. I wouldn't worry about any ramifications. Superfly wants a police presence as much as we do. All music venues and bars work off the same logic. Once you call the police, you pretty much invite them in. The more problems, the larger chance licenses and permits will be revoked. This is Bonnaroo, not Bustarusa.
protip: don't keep your sh*t in plain sight. Bad ideas include, glove box, any compartment inside the vehicle, bags in your trunk. Keep it in a logical, concealed spot (trunk liner, spare tire, speaker covers.)
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
one car in my group did get sniffed around by a k9 unit while the police were walking along the line of cars waiting along the highway to enter the festival...it can happen.
i haven't personally seen any DEA there, but i can't think of a reason why it couldn't happen also.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Here is some past experience. they are not going to ask you to crank open your camper. So pack it good(behind stuff)(in stuff) and lower your popup and lock it down. It would take you way to much time to raise it and open it bro.. Have fun, pack good and drive safe.

that could have been me. my friend and I had a 36 hour drive with little sleep a few years ago. when we pulled up to the gates we were literally coming apart as reality seemed to slip away. we weren't doing any drugs nor drink, but the depravity of sleep was intense. they had us pull over to the side while two rather large officer (perhaps DEA) searched our car. they asked us if we were on any drugs or had any drugs in the car. they said if we complied to tell them we would only be ticketed and not have to spend the weekend in jail. we had nothing to fear but as soon as i stepped out of the car I almost fell on my face. I couldn't pull myself together. anyway the search took them about a half hour and it was rather cumbersome, they even had us even unroll our sleeping bag and tent. no dogs though. the one thing from that experience I remember vividly were the size of the guns they carried, they were huge they looked like Smith and Weston on steroids. It seems to me that the searches were done out of good common sense. I would also like to say there logistic only allows them to search one out of every three hundred cars.

For the past two Roo's I've went to we brought our pop-up and have never had to open it up.. Although last year the guy at the gate asked us if we could and we said sure but it is gonna be a pain and take some time, which he then replied 'nevermind' and he was just asking to see if we had any glass bottle stashed in there, which of course we didn't because we follow all the rules
