This has probbaly been covered a hundred times over, but is there anywhere on the grounds with accessible plug-ins for say...phone chargers, camera chargers, laptop chargers, etc?
oasis mobile had a tent where you could charge your phone last year, not sure about the other stuff. i'd say don't worry about the laptop, there was an internet tent last year too. even though it was sorta sketchy on the connection at times i believe
Bring your car/cigarette lighter charger. Or Buy a small (<150 watt) inverter. You can plug this into your cigarette lighter. Not that it draws too much, but I would start and run the car while doing this. You can find them at a Target or like store.
I brought my laptop...Why would you recommend not to bring it? Every morning I could upload my pictures from my camera and check email, news and weather.

I wouldn't recommend counting on Broo to supply any kind of power, so if you need to charge something, get an inverter or car charger. I mean, even if they do provide it (like the tent did last year) actually getting in there and getting charged up will involve lots of lines and time that could be spent checking out some rad bands.
Keep in mind that cell phones are all but useless there, since the towers aren't set up to have an additional 90,000 people chatting away. Last year it took me about 15 minutes just to connect to my service.

What about text messaging? Did you have use of that? I know how people say you should leave for cellphones off at Roo blah blah blah but I don't know how people don't use them. Without text messaging I would have been lost! It was my only connection I had to the rest of my group when we separated.

My group brought 2-way radios last year to keep in touch.
It was actually a bit of fun, the conversations you'll have with total strangers on the same channel.
yea that can be fun but it also can be annoying when you are trying to communicate. ... we use them when we are driving up and then kinda turn them off once we got to the farm
I have a treo, which is really similar to a blackberry, and im gonna completely disable the internet browsing/e-mail portion for the trip... not only can work not contact me(!!!) but it'll save battery.
I dunno.. bring your laptop if you want, but I'd rather be as disconnected as possible from the real world
I plan on checking my texts every morning or something to make sure there isnt a family emergency but thats about it..

oh you can disable that? you have to show me how - or ill just go to the store n have them do it
^I'm not sure how you do it with a blackberry In my Treo I just go into "Network" and select "None" for all of the connection things, and at the top I disable Verizon Internet. It saves a ton of battery
anyone ever use a solar phone charger? I think I might pick one up, but I do have to call my mom when I get down there, and on the way back up, I would like to keep my mp3 player charged, and I'll have to call my boy a few times as well. And with a razr, the battery wont survive.
worse comes to worse - you can always find someone with a car charger - we both have L6 - which is the SLVR minus the MP3 player - I think the RAZR uses the same type of charger
go to ebay...get extra batteries for you camera and phones....charge them before you leave home....replace when needed while at roo.
i did this last year. picked up 2 off brand rechargable batteries for my canon sd600 for like $10 which including the battery that came with the camera, gave me a total of 3. i also got an original LG battery for my cell phone for like $8. never ran out of power the whole trip and never once had to use my car charger and wait around for my electronics to charge up.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I Have air conditioning in the camper, so heat will not be a issue. I had no problems last year

For me, half the appeal of Roo is being completely out of touch for a few days.
It's always great to glide out of there and see the headlines at your first stop on the road. It's usually a "whoa, how did we not find out about that?!" kind of moment. Being able to check news, screw around with email, or doing anything outside of a few calls, would be a serious letdown for me. I mean, unless it's part of your job that simply can't be ignored (which is a whole different story) I'll never understand the desire to stay WIRED at a music festival.

I'd say for me it's at least 75%
No phone, no pets, no bra.... No worries!
But I do bring the camera charger to capture the lack of reality.
We have a converter for the cig lighter so can plug in anything, but cause it's a Honda we have to let the engine run a little so the battery doesn't die. We are very respectful about it ( or thing we are anyway).
