What a bunch of pansies. I'll be in the fountain all day, every day. The brown is just a little silt from the well being pump at or above its capacity.
Is that really what it is or is it really recycled water?
They started changing it out once a day the last year or two, but it's recycled the entire day between changes.
Hep C is a very real possibility - it only takes someone pissing in the water, having an open cut, or not washing before getting in the fountain. Over 100 people caught Hep C on SCI tour a couple of years ago and that was just from vending. That's the main reason why I'm not going in it, but YMMV.
It's not like pool water with enough chlorine to kill the nasties - it's straight well water that becomes hippie soup in a matter of hours.
I'm saving my liver for stuff that I actually enjoy destroying it with... ;D
I emailed Roo and they said that all water supply sources and systems in Centeroo are required to be tested by the State Health Dept each day.
I saw the fountain clog up with silt once and shut down. It had to be back flushed to clear the filters. You should have seen the silt come out after that. Look like Nestle's Quik. Thank God silt is just small sand and not real mud so it washed right off and down the drain.
The fountain is by no means sanitary but bacteria count are probably so low as to make contagion highly unlikely. Otherwise you'd have tons of cases of diarrhea at the very least. Probably safer than sitting on the port-o-pottie seat.
That's my thinking anyway, for what it's worth.

I'm planning on bringing a cot and a light sleeping bag and then some blankets. I figure majority of my time if/when I sleep it'll be on top of the sleeping bag with maybe a blanket on top, but we'll see. Weather has been pretty crazy this year so far so who knows what'll happen
The weather has been crazy! Record heat in March. Record cold for Easter. And it's the latter half of May and it's been in the low 40's for a week at night. Who know what Roo weather will be. I'm bringing a little of everything this year.

hey guys, its been a while since i posted something. This has been nagging me so I thought to post my question here. My boyfriend is totally against bringing his airbed. He complains it too much of a hassle to set up and to keep reflating. He doesnt mind roughing it a bit. I however need a little comfort, I can rough it but if I can plan on some comfort i want that. So instead I'm planning on bringing the sleeping bags I have and piling them on each other and making a makeshift double bed. I lay on it and its okay. But I'm thinking on getting some foam padding. The stores i go to only sell single mats, so I was wondering with my situation anyone can suggest some possibilities or direct me to a site that sells eggcrate foam bedding for like under 30 with shipping.
I know you can get cheap egg carton foam pads at target for like $7, they are the cheap ones tho, but that's what I always do. I bring a sleeping bag, an egg carton, and a ton of blankets and quilts, I just sleep on top of it all... comfy!
but remember to put it all in the car if it looks like rain!

yeah troo, weather has been weird in the Carolinas too. I'm preparing for everything.
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."
I always bring a sleeping bag(just a cotton Coleman from Wally World), and I roll up a sheet and light fleece blanket inside of it, that way I'm prepared for hot or cold. I never had a problem with moisture except for Monday morning last year when I woke up in a puddle.
