I have to say I love this forum, as a newbie I've found so much information...just not the answers to these questions...sorry if they seem silly:
We are seriously considering tent-only, will be arriving say mid-afternoon on Thursday, how do we know which way to go? I looked at a photo of last years map, the tent-only areas seemed somewhat scattered... is one spot better than another? Do we get a choice?
I've noticed all the different camp names? Where did these come from? Do they change year to year? How will we know which camp we're in?
Aside from VIP, what are the best areas to be in to be as close to centeroo as possible? Is this a pointless quest? Or is it just dumb luck?
I appreciate any and all help...sorry again if these seem like basic questions...
You will know where to go when you arrive and they give you your map.
it's first come first serve in tent only, get there early.
The camp names have been virtually the same since the beginning. They get them from really awesome 80's movies. You'll know which camp you are in by referring to your map.
Aside from VIP, tent only and access are the closest camping spots. As far as where you park... it's a crap shoot.
Where you park/camp is a crapshoot. They will direct you in. Only thing you can do is not arrive Wed night as you will get parked WAY far away (BFE). Tent Only is close to everything, opens Thur AM and is 1st come, 1st serve.
Camp names have been the same since '05 when they reduced attendance to 80k. Probably will stay that way but every Roo has its surprises.

Thank you both so much. I appreciate it.
So, when you come in, they'll ask you if you're heading to tent-only and direct you from there?
no, when you go in they park you where they park you. it's up to you to lug all your stuff to tent-only. You don't get to drive there and drop off your stuff.
(If you're asking if they'll direct you on foot where to go, then yes, I would hope they would give you directions once you're in.)
When you come in you will be directed to a parking spot that they decide on. You will just follow the line of cars that are coming in at the same time. After you park you can camp there or haul you stuff to tent only.

This is not accurate. the camp names, as they were last year, were only those names last year and the year before. In 04 they were completely different and in 03 they were different, I cant remember if they even had names in 02....
If they cap the attendance at 80k as it has been the last two years, then i would imagine they will stay the same, but you never know!
Going by the 05 and 06 camp names, Camp Inforoo™ will be in "Camp Shooter McGavin"

I stand corrected
in '02 they did have names, but I don't remember them
