What is everyone using for their sleeping arrangement .. i dont know if i should get an air matress of sleeping bag or what -- and where can i get those things cheap at? cause im kinda broke.
Bring some blankets and a pillow. It's gonna be plenty warm so you really don't need to go out and buy a sleeping bag. I would strongly reccomend an air mattress...and they aren't too expensive. In fact, I'm willing to bet you can find one at Wal-Mart or Target.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

cool. i appreciate the help guys last year we went with this girl who was a big camper and she supplied everything, but shes not coming this year so i had to start thinking.
I looked at air mattresses and ended up buying a cheap plastic pool float - I figure <$5.00 - it will keep me off the ground - with a sheet and some blankets I am good. Got one for Boz also - alot cheaper then $12.00 each for twin airbeds or $30.00 for a queen - plus then buying a pump for them at about $15.00.

I'm bringing a fold-up cot with a sleeping bag (probably to be slept on top of most of the time) and maybe a blanket or two (also to sleep on top of most nights)
My whole set-up was built around sleeping in the back of my mini-van. it was great. when I went to Big Cypress I slept in the back of my Honda Civic Hatchback. You stay dry, You can lock it all up, and it's cozy as hell.

My best friend actually did one of the pool floats last year and loved it.
Cots are great and comfortable and cool. I did the cot in '02, '03 and '04. But if you get cold, bring a blanket to lay on as the nylon allows all your heat to escape (which I think is a GREAT thing as I'm always hot)
But a hammock is still the the best sleep ever!

i got a queen size coleman airmatress at target for $19 ontop ill ad like 2 sleeping bags (just in case the bed deflates plus its more cushion to sleep on) sleeping bags go for about $13 or so. battery powered air pump costs about $18 or can get a hand pump for like $8. Add some home pillows and bed sheets and my comforter I'm ready.
if you going to buy an air mattress buy coleman not ozark trail. if you dont want to do airmattress go eggacarton. since I'm in florida and its hurrican season i went with the airmattress since a decent eggcarton costs about $17 so I figured pay a little more for the airbed you know.
If anything ask your friends. I found out once I bought my airmattress 3 of my friends were willing to lend me theirs anyhoo and I didnt even think to ask them. I was just talkign to them how i was preparing for Roo and what I bought and they offered stuff. So if you really pinching the penny ask friends, roomates, and family first if they have things of that nature you can borrow.
so i bought a ozark trail queen air mattress with pump for about 16 dollars. I thought it was a decent deal but i dunno what is so bad about ozark trail, i have yet to sleep on it so im curious to if it will go flat on be or just isnt comfortable. Also i got a stand up canopy that is ozark trail.. lol what can i say i went cheap this year, i dunno why..

something inside me is wanting to sleep in my car. anyone done that before?
My teenage daughter slept in the back seat of our SUV last year. We had the windows cracked for her and she was pretty comfortable. Once the sun came up and it got hot, she opened the doors and and the back and had plenty of ventilation. Don't forget to turn off all the interior lights if you do that....

One of the best purchases I made for last year's Roo was a factory-second memory foam mattress topper. I got a queen and my wife and I slept wonderfully on it in our tent for the weekend. I bought it on eBay for less than $20 and it arrived shrinkwrapped and compressed for travel. Unwrapped it covered the entire sleeping compartment of our large tent. I strongly recommend going with one that's 2 inches or thicker, as at that point you'll be comfortable regardless of the terrain. The foam is also nice because it allows you to be more comfortable beneath nothing but a sheet than you would be on a thermarest, for example. 2 downsides to the foam are its 'new' odor and the difficulty of bringing it home with you once it's been unwrapped.
We got cots last year and was the best sleeping out of the last 3 years. First year on the ground in our tent with sleeping bags and comforters. Not too bad. Second year we used a coleman air mattress. It was kind of large for our tent and leaked a lot of air through the night and weekend. Had to pump it up a couple of times. I think the cot is best now.

stuffy? hot like an oven when the sun came out? or did the tarp help ward off the heat? we will have a sleepable car this year, and just wondering about comfort factor and sleeping later. [but if it rains, of course i'll sleep in it! forget comfort.]
