Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
We're taking a R.V. up to 'Roo this year and can't wait. I haven't been since 2003. Anyhow, this is my first time buying a RV pass and RV'in it so I figured the u-haul trailer would be a good option to hold all of our stuff. Extra gas, water, camping gear, 20x30 canopy tent we're bringing, etc, etc.
The question I have, and yes I contacted the Bonaroo info e-mail address but got no reply after a week, is I wanted to make sure pulling a trailer behind a R.V. is cool to get in with? It's not a super long R.V. bus type, just a class C so even with a trailer it should be shorter than a 30ft bus type full size R.V. Just making sure I wouldn't get any $shit for pulling something behind the R.V. I do have my R.V. voucher and all...
And as far as the entire info guide for RV's and regular camping the only thing mentioned regarding trailers is that if you tow anything behind your car, it's considered an oversized or RV vehicle and you must have a RV pass. Doesn't say anything in the guide about towing a trailer behind a Rv. Trailers and box trucks are clearly two different things here.
I wish there was a number to call...there's not...or I would have already. I e-mailed the info e-mail address a week ago but no response...surprise surprise...
We do have a lot of stuff, but mainly it's 4-5 full grown men in the R.V. PLUS all of our gear in the RV with us. No thanks, for $70 we can have a trailer for the whole week and keep our crap outta the RV. Will make things neater and more comfortable. Plus we can store 20+ gallons of extra generator fuel for air conditioning. Not to mention the fact that a 20'x30' canopy tent is pretty damn big, even packed up.
if its just a trailer than you're cool, we've done it before.
Yea it is just a trailer, but it is covered to keep out the elements. I wouldn't call it a "box trailer" but I guess that's what it is. Certainly couldn't be mis-construed as a "box truck".

20+ extra gallons for running the A/C is overkill, just fill up the tank before you go into Bonnaroo. We had unlimited generator usage and we ran the air while we slept, during the day, and we had someone who was injured so they were in it most of the time.... still it only used up half a tank of gas, most RV's will shut off the generator before they run empty.
Also, we had six people in a C class trailer, just use the overhead bed and the bedroom in the rear as storage, lay the canopy in the center isle, we had the RV loaded with stuff most of it will be out of your way when you get to Bonnaroo anyway because it will be setup outside, then we used the drivers and passenger seat for extra storage too. The trailer may become an issue when you go to park the RV, they generally park the A class RV's near each other.
Good call on a lot of that. True nearly all the junk will be cleared out when we get there but just thought it'd be that much more comfy on the way down.
Yea I was most concerned with the huge canopy, extra fuel, and at least 14 gallons of extra fresh water in aquatainers for the putting in the trailer. Not to mention all the camping chairs, regular camping gear, etc etc.
As far as fuel consumption I was worried about sitting in line for 8-12 hours shutting down and starting up over and over again eating up our gas before we even parked the RV. So even if we don't NEED the gas during the festival we could just dump it in the RV anyways on the way home. And yea this generator will shut off before the fuel tank runs dry.
So yea the U-Haul trailer is only $80 after tax for a whole week so it would only be about $20 each for us to have it.
Hell I dunno, do I really need it, I dunno...maybe not. It might be more of a pain in the ass to have than to not....
So I guess this idea is a no go. They really ought to include this bit of information in the info guide. What a mess it would have been had I shown up with that trailer loaded down with gear!
There are also the storage compartments on the exterior of the RV. Those are pretty big and perfect for carrying extra fuel, water, chairs, golf clubs, tents and whatever else you may bring. Most RVs have several storage compartments.
