so my friends and i are bringing 3 tents total, plus 1 canopy/pavilion (10x10). i was wondering what the best way you guys suggest setting all this up..i was thinking that putting the 3 sleeping tents around the pavilion would be the best bet...i guess my main question is, how far away from the pavilion do you suggest we set up the tents? i am worried about rain run-off from the pavilion onto our tents or right onto the entrance to our tents. call me ocd, but i'd like to have a decent idea of our set-up before we get there. thanks.
In 2005 we camped by some guys that put all of their tents under their shade tent. The tents were one or two-people tents and they left area in the center for lounging. This may not work for you, but it is thinking outside of the box:
Otherwise, yeah, just group them around the shade tent or closer to the car(s), with a walking aisle on all sides of each tent, and pray it doesn't rain.

thanks for the help guys, but do you really hink it is necessary to tarp over the tents? i mean, i can't speak for my friends, but i have a rain fly and would imagine that should be fine. that's not a bad idea though troo. and ticktrix, thanks for the input but i'd rather not put my tents under the canopy. i want the under-canopy area to be just for chilling.
The tarp supplies shelter in case of a monsoon and more importantly shade so you can sleep past 6am. Late nights are what Roo is all about but if you can't sleep in a little, you won't make it. Tents get hot quick when the sun comes up.

If you do not shade your tent with something, you WILL wake up roasting in your tent earlier than you want. A tarp over your tent is absolutely essential.

I'm so glad you guys said that..we're planning on putting our tents up under our canopy but I was starting to think that maybe we had the wrong idea after all!! Definitely gotta put the canopy over the tents!
