Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Let me start by thanking all of you for everything you've posted. It has been invaluble advice that I am eager to put to work at the festival.
Now onto my question: I will be going to the roo with a friend of mine who is 55 and in the last stages of recovery from a hip replacement. We will be camping in the Accessible area of the grounds. I am curious to know if anyone has camped there, or if anyone could tell me anything about it from either walking by or camping there yourself.
I am sure Ron could tell you but I think him and Tygerlady are off at Wakarusa this week - but I know there are several on here now that are planning on camping in access
we will be camping in access also, but as first time 'rooers, i have no idea what to expect. Does anyone know where the access camp is? My husband has a triple fusion in his ankle. We emailed the address that came on the info guide with our tickets, and they said it "would be to our advantage to camp there, otherwise we might have a 2 mile walk to centeroo" If anyone has any info on what it's like in access, i would really appreciate a reply post. Thanks in advance. Can't wait to see everyone there!
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Holy sh*t ... what a ride!"
Thanks and Karma to TickTrix please for originally posting and hosting that cropped section of that map.
It looks like all those yellow sections along Broadway are what you are looking at. You can't see the whole map but the regular old everybody camping extends outward a LONG way off that cropped section, so you are relatively close to Centeroo being in accessible and MUCH closer than a lot of the general admission folks, but someone who has been there would have to post to tell you more.
Edit: Found another link to the larger full-size map that shows you all the camping area, also from TickTrix:

[/img]
I can't help with the access question but would love to sit and talk to your husband about his ankle - I may be looking at fusion or replacement in a few years.
Thanks papacat, and much love to you for the info and the map links. Karma coming your way! Come by and see us when you get a chance.
Meg'n'boz, I'm sure my husband would love to talk to you about his fusion and the surgery. He was shot in the ankle back in 96 or so and it was a long process. They almost had to amputate his leg because a staff infection set up, but they saved it. They fused 3 bones into one. He can no longer "rotate" his ankle, only bend it about 50% up and down. He doesn't have a very visible limp, but one leg is now shorter than the other, about 1/2 inch, and it hurts quite a bit if he walks or stands for more than a half hour or so. The doctors say he will have to have this worked on again before too long, the fusion doesn't last forever. I'm not sure of the reasons why, you can ask him. We'd love to see you. Come to the access camping. We'll be in a green chevy malibu, with a red and grey tent and a turquose canopy/tarp thingy....karma coming to you too! By the way...this is what we look like ---------------------------->

This will be our third year in the accessible parking area (with an RV). My uncle had his foot crushed in an accident and has numerous surgeries on it.
We have been put in Camp Mr. Miagi both previous years (farthest left on map) arriving late evening Thursday the first year and mid-afternoon Thursday the next. I think all accessible RV campers were put in Mr. Miagi or Daniel LaRusso. The non-RV campers were put in the others. As I remember, there was plenty of room in all of these areas.
It was about a 10-12 minute walk from where we were to the entrance by The Other Tent and another 10-12 minutes to the main entrance.
I think the "Access Center" to which the guide referred is located in Camp Serge (corner of Broadway and 5th). That would mean the expansion north would be toward Camps R2D2, Emperor, and possibly Lando Calrissian.
The dust was not real bad where we were because there is no camping beyond there (just to the north). The sites north of Broadway are certainly worse than that though (i.e. the closer you get to Shakedown).
Different wristbands are not required. Access to centeroo and the stages are the same as with GA. There are raised platforms at each stage/tent for handicapped seating. If your impairment is not obvious, seperate verification from a doctor (handicapped ID card?) might be required to access the platforms. One family member is allowed to accompany you here.
Please note that these were in response to specific questions. If you have specific questions I will answer the best I can.
bump! How is the overall atmosphere at the access area? also, we will be arriving sometime on wednesday......anyone know if they will turn us away even if we are arriving early because setup will take a long time?
