I read through a lot of posts regarding the shade tents. It seems that in general the cheap ones suck.
Well, I got a cheap one since my bf couldn't see spending $80 on a more expensive EZ-up (even though it was on sale!) It was on sale at Building 19 and it is the standard metal pole, much assembley required deal.
It doesn't have guy wires or anything, so we are going to use rope and get an extra set of stakes to stake it to the ground. But my question lies in the canopy portion. The material seems OK but would it be worth it to use a heavier tarp and tie on my own canopy?
its a good idea. we just got a heavy tarp and put it over the entire shade tent, so a portion was hanging in the back to block more sun from the tent, and then the rest of the extra we pulled to the front and made a little porch, it wasn't hard, and it worked good! we just used rope and staked it down. ours was pretty cheap and it has kept up, just make sure you put it together right!
i'm bringing a 10X10 screened shade tent, and I bring along a couple of small sheets and some clothespins. Except for the sun is directly over you or some other object is shading you, they aren't alway's "shady". With the sheets and clothespins, you can clip them virturally anywhere to sit in shade and still get a breeze...if there is one.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
